We were lucky to catch up with Kesha Norman-Young recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kesha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
You have to be determined, hungry, willing to sacrifice, and also willing to take loses.
Kesha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
It started as a side hustle, just kind of self taught, and I had been doing it that way for about 4-5 years. I then started collaborating with my business partner, Arline, and decided to open up the business and commit to it full time.
We started as a mobile tax services, but through the years we decided to branch out and do tax resolutions, bookkeeping, business insurance, mobile notary services, and help new business structures.
We have a lot of business clients, so what we like to do is just help businesses focus on getting their back office straight. As we do this they are able to focus more on their services that they are providing. That comes with helping them manage their books, picking the right structure (of their business), picking the right tax formation that they need, and making sure they stay in compliance with their taxes. If they are in trouble we are there to help them get out of whatever obstacle they may face.
What I think sets us apart from others is the fact that we are accessible and that we value customer service. We do understand that our clients are our bosses so we try to be as accessible to them as need be.
I am most proud of of being a small business and understanding and gaining the knowledge of different tools that I need to put in place to make my small business be successful.
The main thing I want potential clients to know about our business that we are affordable, convenient, reliable, and accurate. If or when they do business with K&A they are apart of a family!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Definitely networking! Going to different events and meeting with other small businesses has really elevated our business.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I say treat your employees how you want to be treated is the golden rule. I don’t want my employees to feel as if they are not apart of a family as compared to feeling like they are merely robots working for a company.
