We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kesha Kent a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kesha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Kesha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
First and foremost! I’m a wife! I’m married to the first boy I ever kissed! We met in 1990, life happened, my family moved away, we reconnected in 2010, and the rest is a beautiful love story!!
I’m a High Energy Speaker, Author of Networking it’s your SUPERPOWER, Podcast Host and National Human Resource Leader with over 17 years experience in Talent Acquisition, and Training and Development.
Kesha is President of Ascension Health Toastmasters club and has shared her expertise as panelist and keynote speaker for media outlets such as Oprah Daily and a diverse group of businesses and organizations, including, Ameren, Hire Level Staffing, Dress for Success, Washington University at St. Louis, Saint Louis University, Judson University, SCI Engineering, Professional Women’s Alliance, National Society of Black Engineers, National Speakers Association, National Black MBAs and more. Kesha has also served on several local and global boards!
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Leadership and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership both from Judson University! She’s an expert in personal and professional development and the art of networking to build diverse teams, clients and lifelong connections.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve learned on this journey to REFUSE giving my visions to blind people to proofread! People want others to live the way they do and when you’re out of their box, they will ostracize you! My husband and I have been fighting for our love since 1990, we’ve overcome the odds and refuse to allow others to dictate us! Having a family vision, personal vision and business vision is important! We married at the court house with no witnesses, we met them when we arrived!! My husband was also sentenced in that same court building! Adversity will attempt to strip away your greatness but you must keep standing and keep swinging! Nonstop!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I quit the job I held in 2018, it gave me a new sense of freedom! I was able to escape the plantation! I have coached and worked countless organizations who I’ve helped see within the arms of relationships! Had I not gone through what I did, I wouldn’t be able to pour into others!
At the age of 13, I moved 500 miles from family, friends and everything I knew! It was then that I had to find the lost Kesha and I rediscovered all my “Keshaness”
