Hi Kerye , thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?

KARE by Kerye Mone skincare line is a subset behind THE KARE BRAND, which is an umbrella LLC. I started with a skincare line because I wanted to start with something intimate to introduce to the world. I’m a true fan of self-care & self-love and I could not think of a better way to induct future clientele into The KARE world then by providing you with something that nourishes the biggest organ on our bodies… our skin ! I began researching alcohol free products to incorporate into my products and from there went down a rabbit hole ( a good one that is). I started this journey in 2019 by establishing a website domain through shopify e-commerce website and strategically putting together my aesthetic via social media such as instagram & facebook along with attending various vendor pop-up events to sell and promote my ideas & products. Of course naturally I listened and took into consideration customer input , that is totally key , I’ve received amazing feedback, input, and suggestions to better The KARE Brand and I look forward to planting more seeds !

Kerye , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For those who are not familiar with me I am a loving, kind, genuine soul who wants nothing more than for my light to influence others to follow their goals, dreams, and aspirations. With that I set an example as well of hard work pays off , on top of pursuing entrepreneurship I am an advocate for continuing to learn ! Always remember we are students in this journey of life. Skincare is truly impactful when uplifting another person whether its giving someone a makeover, massage, haircut, all of those services tend to make someone feel good about themselves thus spreading that energy all around them. When you go on a job interview or a first date you tend to partake in od of the few services I previously mentioned , Now lets and one of KARE’s Luxury Avocado Oils , Jojoba Showergel & Aloe Body Creme to that mix and …BOOM your Self-Kare package is complete !

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

My preferred E-commerce platform is shopify. Not only is a membership affordable but the entire process of building a website , purchasing a domain and linking your products to different social media platforms is vaguely easy. They also provide a variety of FREE tutorials and their customer service is superb. Whenever I encounter an issue and need help troubleshooting I have not had any problem getting the answers necessary to complete my tasks. I highly recommend utilizing their services, not to mention the free range of creativity you have access to is bananas !

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.

I manufacture all of my products in house. Mainly because I am an advocate for knowing what’s really going into the skincare products ( i admit .. im a control freak) but this “overcompensation” has proven to be fruitful when it comes top maintaining the quality standards I uphold. Of course there was alot of trial and error especially when your creating your products manually and not relying on anyone to tell you .. ” its completed , now sell it!” I also have a knack for graphic design so all of my content is created in house as well. From all of the content on the KARE by Kerye Mone e-commerce website , social media platforms, and labeling on the products I schedule timeframes to work on certain projects and remain disciplined to complete the tasks I delegate myself. I have alos trademarked my brand so as not to some in contact with any legalities.
