We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kerwin Gonzalez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kerwin below.
Kerwin, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I’ve worn many hats—managing major fitness chains, leading Amazon warehouse teams, serving in restaurants—but through it all, one thing has remained constant: my relentless drive to tell stories and create art.
Every single day begins with purpose. I wake up energized to pursue this dream—submitting to casting calls, meeting with directors and producers, participating in table reads, fittings, screen tests, and photoshoots. I average over 20 auditions a week. My entire day is structured around my pursuit of success in this craft.
I’m a firm believer that preparation creates opportunity. I make my own luck, and the results prove it: over 70 acting credits, 11 awards from global and international festivals, and an unwavering reputation for professionalism and consistency.
I’m at my happiest when I’m acting. This isn’t just a career—it’s my life. My ideal vision is to be on set 24/7, telling stories that move people. I’ll be doing this until I’m 100 years old, because nothing makes me feel more alive.

Kerwin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began my acting journey at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, studying under Amina Robinson. It all started after diving deep into the behind-the-scenes world of filmmaking—the structure of a set, the rhythm of production, and the craft of performance. After my first showcase, I was hooked. It was a transcendent experience that confirmed what I already felt in my gut: this is what I was born to do.
Ten years later, I’m living in Los Angeles, continuing to grow and train at a high level. I’ve had the privilege of studying under Aaron Speiser at The Screen Acting Studio and currently take weekly on-camera classes at The Brian Cutler Actor’s Studio.
I’m proud to consistently deliver performances that are magnetic, grounded, and full of life. I bring depth, truth, and excitement to every role. My definition of being “on time” is arriving an hour early. You won’t find me in my trailer—I’ll be on set, learning, growing, and standing by to run lines with other actors. I’m here to serve the story in every way I can.
I have a sharp memory for lines and a passion for preparation. Recently, I delivered an 8-minute one-take scene with 30 paragraphs of dialogue. During a 9-day shoot for a vertical series where I starred, I would often be handed six new paragraphs the morning of—and I was ready every time. I pride myself on staying prepared, adaptable, and present.
This is more than just a career to me—it’s a mission. I have a deep hunger for excellence, and I show up every single day with the intention to be great. Because greatness, for me, is not optional—it’s inevitable.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Seeing the finished vision come to life on the big screen is indescribable. The 16-hour days on set, the bonds formed with cast and crew, people from all walks of life uniting with one purpose, to tell a story for the fans. Watching the editing, the costumes, the color palette, all the details come together from script to screen, it’s nothing short of magic.
I recently watched the new F1 film starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, and at one point, something just clicked. I became emotional. The film was impeccable, and in that moment, I felt overwhelming gratitude. Knowing that I get to be a part of this industry knowing how much work, heart, and love goes into making something like that—I felt deeply moved.
That dream tugs at my heartstrings. It reminds me why I do this. It’s profoundly gratifying to know I’m on this path, and I will continue to honor this craft with everything I’ve got.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I get asked all the time by friends and family outside the industry:
“When are you going to get a real job?”
“What about settling down and starting a family?”
But the truth is, this is my real job. Acting is not just what I do. It’s who I am. This craft, this industry, this life, it’s my everything.
I believe everyone should find their why. Why are you here? What drives you? Create a life you don’t need a vacation from, one where every day feels like a getaway. Don’t just live for the weekend.
It would have been easy for me to take a safe, stable six-figure job. But I knew deep down that I’d never be fulfilled. There is nothing else I could do that would bring me the joy, purpose, and passion that acting does. This isn’t hard for me to pursue every day, it’s natural. It’s necessary.
Don’t let fear or comfort hold you back from chasing your dreams. The safety net might feel secure, but it can also become a cage. Anyone can go after what they truly love.
YOU can do it.
