Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kervins Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kervins, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe that one of the most important things it takes to being successful is flexibility. You can’t predict the future so you have to remain flexible and adapt as the way of things continually change. I feel that a lot of businesses fail because of the lack of ability to change and adapt with current times and they eventually get left behind. The world is ever changing so you have to be able to roll with the punches and continually change and adapt to find solutions.

Kervins, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was first introduced to photography through my family as a kid. Some of my favorite times as a kid was going through the numerous photo albums that my parents had. Before social media, those photo albums were the only way I could see all of my family members with the majority of them still living in Haiti. Pictures played a major role in my life especially since I come from a family of models, or so they would like to think. Everyone in my family loves taking pictures of my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. You can’t bring a camera out without them swarming to come to take pictures.
I fell in love with how pictures made people feel, seeing how much joy and pleasure me and my family had taken pictures and I’ve always wanted to reciprocate that same feeling for others. Photography was just a hobby at first but eventually I saw that I could turn it into a business. I am constantly learning and growing as a photographer which is one of my favorite things about being a photographer, there’s always room for growth and development.
With every photoshoot, my goal is to capture the moments that are genuine and real while tailoring the session to the style and personality of my clients and having fun at the same time!
I strive to offer you more than just photography. Connecting with clients on a personal level allows me to go above and beyond with my work and the service that I provide.

Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Outside of taking pictures my business does have another stream of revenue which is teaching. This summer I will be teaching photography and business for young adults where I will be giving them an in depth look and process of turning your hobby into a profitable business.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
To this day I am a firm believer that the best way to get new clients is through word of mouth from previous clients. The best source for new clients are the clients that you already have. You don’t have to be the absolute best at what you do but if your client experience is amazing people will refer you to family and friends and help grow your clientele.
