Absolutely! I take vacations and intentional breaks, though I’ll admit—I find it hard to step away. As a business owner, it’s easy to feel like you have to be “on” all the time, but I’ve learned that taking time to recharge isn’t just a luxury; it’s a necessity. When I don’t take breaks, I start to feel drained, and that’s the opposite of what Ambrosia & Nectar Candles represents.
Our brand is all about beauty, relaxation, and sophistication—values that remind me how important it is to pause and reset. Just as lighting a candle can transform a space and create a sense of calm, vacations and intentional breaks allow me to regain balance, spark creativity, and return with fresh energy.
Having an online platform has made it easier for me to take small breaks without feeling like I’m neglecting my business. With the right systems in place—automation, scheduling tools, and a well-organized backend—I can step away knowing that everything continues to run smoothly.

I’m Kerris Sease-Richard, the founder of Ambrosia & Nectar Candles, a brand dedicated to bringing timeless beauty, relaxation, and sophistication into every space. Ambrosia & Nectar Candles was born during COVID-19, a time when many people were confined to their homes, balancing work, stress, and uncertainty. With so much isolation and unpredictability, I wanted to create something that could bring comfort, beauty, and a sense of peace.
Our candles allowed people to instantly elevate their space, creating a warm, luxurious atmosphere even in the midst of chaos. At the same time, our stationery collection provided a way for people to stay connected with loved ones, sending heartfelt notes during a period when so many of us felt distanced from family and friends.
My love for crafting intentional, sensory experiences didn’t start with the business. I used to make candles, soaps, and handcrafted cards as gifts for family and friends, putting thought and care into each creation. Later, when I met my husband, he mentioned that he had always been curious about candle making. When I shared that I had experience making candles as a hobby, he was immediately excited about the idea of starting a candle line together.
