Kerrie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.

Yes!! I built my whole business on the basis of building relationships. When I started in this industry, I asked around and a lot of Social Media Managers don’t answer comments on behalf of their clients, but I SURE DO! My motto is “Your brand’s success depends on leveraging your relationships”. I do this for my clients or teach them the right way to accomplish this. You stand out from your competition because of your relationships!!!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Kerrie D. Barker and I am the owner of KB Social Media!

My services include but are not limited to: Coaching, Social Platform management, 1-on-1 classes, and tailored social media strategy plans.

KB Social Media started as a fun project while I was marketing my beauty business, Gorgeous-Glamour. In addition to practicing the art of makeup, I am a licensed Esthetician and I still maintain my own and contribute to larger beauty blogs. Through my connections to the blogging world I was asked to help others start their own social media accounts. I discovered that I really had a knack for it and most importantly a passion to do it! After gaining some great knowledge and experience in those first few months and with the encouragement of my twin sister Kellie who truly set me off on the right path, KB Social media became a reality.

I still love all things beauty related and with my focus on social media, I have the opportunity, knowledge and know how to help your business be beautiful too. I love my clients and have built myself a little reputation with some as the social media queen, a title I don’t take for granted. I have found so much joy in helping others reach their social media and marketing potential!

KB Social Media is quickly growing but it will always remain a small company at heart. We are here to give you that personal touch!

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

I started as a makeup artist and fellow bloggers expressed some issues with their blogs. I learned how to start and run a blog myself and turned this skill into Social Media Management. The best business is what you love to do or help others with, so naturally making money was a win-win for me. I started managing platforms for business but now I am mostly coaching because I prefer to empower people to run their social media. I have big plans for this business and growing each day. It can be a struggle to own and run your business, but it is so worth it.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Word of mouth and growing organically through Facebook groups. I teach people how to use groups to grow online because a lot of businesses don’t have the budget for Ad spending with all the other expenses needed, Groups are an incredible way to spread your name around and gain some solid leads.
