We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kerri Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kerri below.
Kerri, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
In sewing & creating dog bandanas for a few years now, we wanted to find a way to give back to Animal Rescue Organizations. We started creating “Adopt Me” dog bandanas, and every time a customer purchases from us, we donate one of these bandanas to the animal rescue organization of their choice!
The thought process behind this is that workers and volunteers can use these bandanas to create bright and cheery social media posts to draw the attention to the adoptable animal’s photos, in hopes that someone will foster, adopt, or share their post.
Also for those families who foster, they can utilize these bandanas while they are out and about, whether its an adoption event or dog park.
Our mission is to assist these animal rescues in finding these animals their forever homes. They work tirelessly to provide these animals with the life they deserve, and we feel this is a great way for us to show our appreciation of their hard work.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We began in 2020 with an idea for coffee cozies and dog bandanas. With no prior experience, and being home with 3 kids each, we began to teach ourselves to sew. YouTube was a terrific resource for us in learning the sewing process. It was $100 investment for the sewing machine, plus the cost of some fabric to begin. Lots of trial and error (lots or error) but we could always laugh it off and try again.
It is important as mothers, we give so much to our families all the time, putting them first and often sacrificing our own needs. It is nice to have this business to call our own and something to be very proud to continue to build over time.
We sew dog bandanas, coffee cozies and hair accessories. We offer services such as personalization and also wholesale opportunities for other small businesses. We love the process of picking out fabrics each season and we are very grateful for the opportunity!
Our brand is for geared towards those who love coffee & dogs, our two favorite things!
How did you build your audience on social media?
We value social media, as it has connected us to customers we would have never met on our own from across the United States and now all over the globe!
That being said, we want a genuine connection with our audience. We want to give them a real look into our own lives, we are regular people with a life, kids, dogs, chaos.
We want our audience to know they are appreciated. Every picture they send of their dog dressed up in our bandanas or their iced coffee covered in our cozies, it gives us the motivation to keep going & keep creating for them.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped to build our reputation is that we have a cause behind what we are doing. We want to connect with animal rescue organizations all over the country to better help them to find these adoptable animals their forever homes.
We love to create these special “Adopt Me” bandanas for them, because it is a way for us to connect with these animals from afar. Every time we make and send a bandana, its a hug from us to them, sending good vibes for the next stroll in the park or adoption event that they will be noticed. Someone always knows someone looking to adopt an animal.
Our Adopt Me dog bandanas are meant to spark conversations and create connections. Our bandanas are handmade with love and we send that love to these organizations to be a tiny piece in the puzzle of finding these animals their perfect loving families and a forever home that they deserve.
