We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kerisha Crowder. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kerisha below.
Alright, Kerisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Hello my name is The Qor I’m a hip hop artist based out of colorado also I run my own entertainment company be real and grind entertainment also known as BRAG. Also I have shot music videos for various artist free of charge under the name dark soul bright future films. In later days I promoted hip hop comedy and gospel shows with ames high productions as of now I produce a show -funky fresh fridays- with Uchneligan productions. We book artists to perform and highlight their music and talent. Over the years I have worked free of charge from film to help build others as I build myself. I believe that everyone should have a chance to chase their dreams without having to bare the headache of how will I get this done knowing everything costs. Not everyone can afford social media packages to showcase content on their social media platforms, that’s where shaun asakura comes in. While Uchneligan productions and I produce the show shaun comes and films recaps of the artists performances and takes pictures so each artist can walk away with something they can be proud of. I aim to build a community based latter for those around to climb knowing the colorado hiphop scene doesn’t really have a market the mission is get to a place where it’s built and recognized as a structured home base place that should be taken serious. With hard work and dedication I believe we can get there.
Kerisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m The Qor colorado based hip hop artist owner of be real and grind entertainment aka BRAG. I have been making music for over 10 years. I started writing poems at the age of 13 and at 19 I decided to put it behind music. I would spend countless hours at the guitar center with a producer by the name of big rob Davis, he taught me how to put the words I wrote to music. He also taught me how to record my own music I built a studio I my house and took the time to learn behind the scenes. Along the way I took what I learned and taught my friends how to do it on their own. I shot my own music videos -self taught- I took what I learned and also taught my friends who are also artists how to shoot their own videos. What sets me apart from other female artist is my ability to strategically plan how I want my songs to go and sound as I punch the spirit lyrically. I’m mostly proud of the fact that I can take what I learn and teach others help others and be an anchor for those who need grounding. I named my company be real and grind because I believe we should be ourselves while we work out the residuals to become who we believe we are and that’s real. I’ve written for artists, as well and I’m selfless. Music is a treasure through decipline and dedication I’m buried in the chest.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly every since i was a little girl I had this vision, at first I wanted to be in the wnba I was relentless at basketball in highschool, but writing was just one of those things that stuck with me. What drives me now are my kids my mission is to show them that no matter what life throws at you you should never give up on yourself on your dreams…ever! I’ve watched my mother go after hers all my life and she never gives up so why should I? why should they? We shouldn’t, and as we do we should help those who are less fortunate than we are.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There aren’t any I learned everything along the way as I should and how God had it planned for me. I gained my resources along the way that allowed me to have working relationships built trust and help as I continue to get better at my craft.
