We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keonna Bayone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keonna below.
Keonna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
BayoneBeauty is derived from my last name. My last name means a lot to me because it isn’t many of us left and I want my business to be a legacy that breaks generational curses.

Keonna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Keonna Bayone. I am originally from a small town in Louisiana. I got into the beauty industry after falling in love with hair care products while in cosmetology school. My products were created to help you fall in love with your hair, promote growth, and help maintain your hair’s overall look.
I’m most proud of extending our hair care line to cater to men and children.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the pandemic, the ingredients for my main ingredient weren’t able to be sourced. I had to stop selling the product that was making my business the most money. Due to this, I had to pivot and find a new product that my customers would love.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I primarily sell my products on my business website ( www.bayonebeauty.com ). This was my initial choice so I could build our customer base first. We are looking into expanding into stores such as Target, Walmart, and etc in the future.
