Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keon Nahali. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Keon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I have always had a passion and love for music since a very young age. I was heavily influenced growing up by my older brother who used to play a lot of electronic music which helped pave the way for wanting to learn how to produce and become a Dj. I started Dj’ing at 13 and later learned to produce at around 15 but growing up playing and traveling for hockey made some bumps in the road but right after high school, I knew I could go down an artistic path. Always having that voice in my head that I could really pursue a career in arts, I attended Icon Collective in Los Angeles and haven’t looked back. It has not been an easy ride having many ups and downs but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a blessing to make money doing what I love more than anything and I am beyond thankful for my career every day and for what the future holds. The message I would love people to understand is that no matter what you are looking for in whichever career field you are in, is that there is more than enough for everyone to pursue their dreams.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So being in music you sometimes have to be a jack of all trades. As an artist/DJ I go by Bizness Casual in which I perform and release my own original music in the EDM scene. I love performing and sharing my music with the world and the support people have given is far beyond what I could think of and I am so grateful for them! It’s what I live for. On the other hand, I also have a career as a multi-genre music producer & audio engineer as Kesli. I have artists of all different genres and styles from around the world who come to me for mixing & mastering as well as producing and songwriting for them. I have produced genres of all styles and one of the most satisfying things in my entire life is being able to work with these talented artists and being able to work with them to bring their creative vision to life. That is what art is all about!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing for me is being able to connect to people through music. I truly believe music speaks on such a deeper level than what we know. It touches the human soul. Sharing music with people and being able to work with great artists to bring something new that the world hasn’t seen can be one of the scariest things, but it’s also the most rewarding!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Working in music is what they call a “Dream Job” but it doesn’t mean you can’t do it. It doesn’t come easy by any means and it will test you over and over again through the years and you will have so many doubts about yourself and your craft but once I realized that there was no one in my life questioning me, that’s when everything started to fall in line. Most of the time the negativity and the doubting voice comes from ourselves. Once I realized that I am supposed to love myself and also supposed to be my own number one fan, that’s when I realized that nothing is impossible. It’s not gonna be easy but it will be so worth it and I can do it.
