Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenzie Hunter . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kenzie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I think as creatives, we are required to take risks. Going against the grain or thinking outside the box, frankly, kind of demands it.
I have always thought far in advance of any move I’ve made, especially when it came to finances. However, in 2018 I made the decision to jump with not much more than faith, determination and less than $100 and rent out my first studio space.
It was a tiny one room office with large windows in a small town, which honestly worked great for me because I had one couch, one light and minimal items to store. That tiny space was cozy and made me feel like I finally invested in myself and could provide a ‘real’ professional experience to my clients.
It was scary. The very small monthly rent still seemed lofty for a rookie with small prices and very inconsistent income. But, I knew I had to give myself a chance to succeed or fail regardless.
Looking back, it makes me proud that I had the fight to know there was so much more ahead than fear. Just a few years in, I’m succeeding. I’m teaching, collecting trophies, earning degrees and helping other professionals take risks with their art.
You just never know if you can fly until you leave the ground!

Kenzie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I focus on connection driven photographic art. The Copper Fox Studio provides a full experience for families, from helping them with their wardrobe, to designing gallery walls and installation. I want my clients to be able to enjoy the time they invest into their lives and the connections they grow, even if their lives are busy.
Another facet of my studio is a new launch, the creative. It is a mix of my fine art and composite photography that allows me to create anything I can think of, and gives clients the options to have hand made embellishments added to their work after print. From brush strokes and pencil rendering to full blown oil paintings, the image becomes a true piece of art upon completion.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I am a passion driven person. I believe through art, through creative facets, we can all be found- in a sense.
I want to encourage and promote connection. I want people, whether they are clients or fellow creatives, to be seen. We all need to feel valued as individuals and know that there are others who have felt what we feel, who hear us and understand. People become powerful when they are able to feel that connection.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Society is driven by word of mouth (or more accurately, word of tech!). When you see something you love, whether it’s a post of poetry, a drawing, someone playing an instrument on the street corner. You can support all of these things by bringing attention to them. All creatives and small business owners love when you purchase our work because we give it everything we have- but we are also usually not skilled at fully marketing ourselves.
Sharing a photo with a tag, posting a video of that band at a dive bar, recommending a young artist in a group where they will be seen by hundreds of browsing screens- all of these are incredibly meaningful ways to support creatives! We appreciate every bit.
