We were lucky to catch up with Kenythe Francis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenythe, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Music began truly with my love for words and what they mean to the world and on a personal level. I learned the art of effective communication from my father who is a masterful orator and writer. I would observe and listen to him speak and see how he was able to articulate his thoughts in a concise manner. He instilled in me at a very young age the importance of how one must write and how one must speak.
I was always an avid reader and had a wild imagination so it all ended up evolving into my desire to create music.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Kenythe Francis and I am a Recording Artist from Rowland Heights, CA. My artist moniker is Orderoutofkos, pronounced, “Order out of chaos.” The main difference is I supplanted and transmuted the word “Chaos” into “KOS” which is an acronym that stands for “Knowledge of Self.”
The main genres of music that I create are Hip Hop and R&B with thematic elements from the Esoteric and Occult. I don a mirror mask to highlight that this world I am creating through my music is ultimately a personal journey within Self.
I choose to keep my personal life outside of my art so that my audience can focus on the dense lyricism and immerse themselves completely in the myriad of worlds that they can explore through the sonics and visuals.
I hope my music and art can help people find themselves in this labyrinth of life…
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Given the current landscape of Social Media and the obvious agenda on a majority of these major platforms, the subject matter in my music is overlooked, under appreciated, and shadow banned. Everyday I am warring with the almighty algorithm and the powers that be controlling who and what type of content is being seen and pushed to the masses.
Instead of feeling powerless and completely subservient to these outside forces, I instead choose to continue being the limitless and creative powerhouse that I know I am. I level up my music and content to where it is impossible to be ignored…
I shine my light in this world reaching one soul at a time…
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The main lesson I had to learn is that ultimately, I am not promised an audience who supports and comes to love my music… I realized early on that the world is not all sunshine and rainbows…that it can be a cruel and unkind place to be… that even if I have a voice, I could become the tree that fell and no one heard.
I had an ignorant sense of entitlement to where I believed that just because I made music and feel I have something important to say, the world must listen…
The truth is, even when I am gone, the world will continue to go on without me. Having accepted this cold. hard fact of reality made me put emphasis on the caliber and quality of my music.
My goal is to create music that will be here long after I inevitably pass away in hopes that it leaves an indelible impression in the hearts of many…
