Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenyatta Harrison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kenyatta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
The Bead Slayer LLC was started when, I needed to replace a beaded bracelet that my husband purchased. At the time I wore beaded bracelets and he wanted one, so I ordered him one but it was the wrong size therefore I tried to figure out how to fix it…and I did, I figured it out. I restrung the beads to fit his wrist. His co-worker saw it and wanted one, I made a set for his co-worker and The Bead Slayer LLC. was born Nov of 2021 (during Covid). Almost four years later I’m still making bracelets and dressing wrists…

Kenyatta, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello my name is Kenyatta Harrison, I’m a wife, mother, grandmother, hospital secretary and full time student. I’m fun, crazy, bold, over the top, loud and a bit eccentric, all things that are represented in my jewelry. I started making beaded bracelets when I had to resize one that my husband purchased that was too big for his wrist. The Bead Slayer LLC is my business and I specialize in one of a kind pieces. My pieces are never duplicated, so that each person has a piece that represents them. My proudest moment is when I see someone with my piece on there wrist.
If you want a one of kind piece that represents you The Bead Slayer LLC is the business for you!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A story that represents my resilience would be ..The first few vendor events that I attended weren’t fruitful and I wanted to give up but I didn’t… I kept going I couldn’t let their “no” get me down because eventually I would have more “yes” than “no” . And I am so glad I did, I’m still standing almost four years later!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My best source of new clietele has been the vendor events that I attend. These events are the best way to get new clientele; the possibilities are endless. There are so many people attending these events. If you have a business you must attend at least one.
