We were lucky to catch up with Kenya Wernett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kenya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The Goal of BTP is to inspire women to take control of their physical, mental, and emotional health, by impacting 1 million women by the vehicle of self-healing modalities. Our origin story began when I first experienced the power of self-healing after battling chronic and debilitating anxiety for 15 years. I was told by my doctors, therapists, and family members to succumb to the “traditional/Western” ways of healing which typically included medication. However, there was something in me that knew there was a different route. I did not know where to start, so I started with my body. I stopped following fad diets and instead hired an expert coach for help. As a result, I lost 30 lbs of fat, gained lean muscle mass, and developed healthy habits around food. As a result, I healed my gut issues which directly impacted my mental and emotional health. I then started to utilize different mindfulness practices such as meditation and breathwork, and as a result, was able to regulate my nervous system and overcome my anxious mind. It is now my mission to walk women through the stages of doing exactly that. From healing the body to mastering the mind, and ultimately taking back control of our health and wellbeing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Kenya Wernett, and I am the founder of Beyond the Physical (BTP), an online-based Holistic Health and Mindset Transformation Program. We empower women to transform their lives physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The program consists of a personalized training program, nutritional program, mindset work, and accountability. With an educational background in Psychology and Social Work and a passion for fitness and health, our team has combined the two subjects to produce astonishing results, including the reverse of medical issues such as Type II Diabetes and mental health issues including Anxiety and Depression. I am most proud of the fact that BTP has played even a minor role in so many women’s lives that has helped them learn the tools to self-heal and become their healthiest and happiest selves.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the story I told myself about my industry being too saturated and that I would not make a dent in the space. The truth is, each and every single one of us has a very specific purpose in life and we all bring our own unique and individual perspectives. Regardless of how many other people are in your industry, there is one thing that makes you different – YOU are YOU, and no one else is YOU. You hold stories and truths and perspectives that no other person can have. When you learn how to tap into that, and truly share your story, you will connect with those that resonate. It won’t matter how many other coaches, or creatives there are teaching or showing similar ideas – you will stand out simply because your story is uniquely yours.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by doing one thing and one thing only – being 110% AUTHENTIC and transparent in my messaging. No one is going to connect with you if you do not share the human aspects of your life. YES, you will make mistakes. YES, you have failed in life. YES, you have been stuck. All of that is what makes your story special. Now all you need to do is SHARE that story with the world. In other words, do not try to copy what other people in your space are doing. Be inspired, sure, but don’t copy. Be your beautiful, unique self and your people will find you. My advice for those starting to build their social media is to tell your story unapologetically, be yourself, connect with your audience, and NURTURE your leads. Do not send cold messages, do not try to sell something to someone you’ve never talked to; build an authentic connection with those that follow you and be truly invested in them and how you can help serve them
