Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenny Thomas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kenny, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started learning photography simply by reading, and having a mentor. I started with film, which can be painful because after development your whole roll can come back bad. Shooting film can be costly so you want to be as good as possible. Digital makes the learning curve much smaller with the instant feedback. Having a mentor helped me make fewer mistakes, and helped with the other parts of business. One of the most essential skills is patience. People like different types of photography and different types of photography require different skills. Don’t compare yourself to other people, stay on your course. Obstacles that stood in the way are cost and finding the time to fully dedicate to the craft. Some days you have more time than other days. I keep going and it comes together in the end.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a visual artist and I use photography to capture time and space. I started this journey with a simple Polaroid One step camera. My vision has progressed with each passing year as I continue to learn. My company provides visual art for hospitals, business offices and other spaces that need visual media to inspire office staff. We hope our images provide a relaxing atmosphere for everyone.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What’s driving our journey is being able to help with healing the mind and lower stress. Seeing a beautiful landscape while recovering in the hospital, or meeting a deadline at work is powerful. Capturing our ever changing landscape in the city and forest is very fulfilling .

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Society can support artist and creatives by taking the time to understand that some people learn and communicate through visual mediums. For some it’s the colors, textures and sounds. If you look at a chair or building it was designed by an artist. Some artist work with numbers as an account would, some with law as an lawyer would, others are more traditional like sculptures and painters. I believe everyone is an artist,
