We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kenny Steimle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kenny, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
As an artist, I am happy with being creative through the medium of painting and drawing. My art has changed so much throught the years, it has offered me so much joy in life and knowledge in the art. I truly cherish the art process and creative thought. I find continued renewal in observing the world around me. I’ve learned to be more at peace with my work and the opportunities it may bring in my life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is Kenny Steimle and I’ve been painting for over 20 years. I grew up in upstate New York and I’ve been developing art ever since I was a kid. I love being creative it allows me to think critically about the world and gives me the opportunity to observe from nature and life. Some of the things I’m most proud of is my ability to teach my sons Milo and Hudson about art. I love the ability to give back to my community through art.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect in art for me is when I teach art to students and family. A truly rewarding time for me is when I’m painting in the studio and my son’s come in to talk or create with me.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I believe that the arts are a very important part of culture and society. The area that I believe where the community could help support artists is to offer more platforms to express and show the work. Using public and private grants that are less wordy and easier to receive. Offering artist knowledge on how to run a business and help recieve business loans to create business credit.
