Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenny Od. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kenny, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I just completed my feature film titled: FRIENDS LIKE SISTERS. It premiered on March 25th and is live in Amazon Prime and other TV networks.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a visual storyteller bases in city of Atlanta. That goes to say that I believe in the transformative power of story-telling which may be in the form of theater or movies.
I started my journey about 20 years ago doing stage plays and theater performances in churches and major events in different cities and countries across the globe. We used to have tours which was tagged; “Dramedy”.
As time evolved, I realized I could reach even more people through the platform of filmmaking, so I started making movies in the year 2011. Ever-since, I’ve been amazed at the feedback I receive from my fans.
Very few filmmakers understand the power of the gift and talent we possess as creatives.
I see film makers as agents of change, and this is because we have a transformative tool bestowed upon us by the Almighty to mold, reshape, and restructure people’s minds.
Whenever people watch our films/ Shows , they are actually presenting their minds like a canvas in the hands of a pinter. We can either decide to paint negativity, depression, and hateful values or we purify, sanctify, and recreate our world through this beautiful platform.
This is my perception and I hope add more color and beauty to the world with my movies.
One thing you always get whenever you watch my movies is a feeling of hope, courage, and strength. I believe life itself is filled with circumstances and situations that are strong enough to keep us in a place of self-doubt, anger, and frustration. But as for me whenever I make movies, I carefully craft and present them as an ointment to the soul of my viewers.
My latest movie (titled; Friends Like Sisters) which premieres on march 25th is centered on forgiveness and shows how a betrayed heart can find healing.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Oh yes! I will say several things, because a creative man is quite differently from the typical mind. I often describe a creative man as a pregnant soul. This is because he is often restless until he sees his imaginations crystallize In the physical world.
So for me, I often get engulfed in my creative space that I walk around-the-clock day and at night. I often loose my sleep to complete my unfinished daily tasks.
This lifestyle or work ethic is strange to non-creatives who want to “be their own boss”, but aren’t willing to put in the required amount of work into the ideals.
As a matter of fact, owning a business isn’t usually the motivation for creatives, it is answering a calling of purpose.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
To be candid, I have read a lot of books from Napoleon Hill’s from think and grow rich, to save the cat and a lot more.. But i draw strength and inspiration mostly from the bible.
