We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kennetik. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kennetik below.
Hi Kennetik, thanks for joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I think, for me, being an artist is part of a bittersweet symphony. The love and joy I get comes from creating, using my talents to produce something that moves people and invokes an emotional response. I think of the late great Nina Simone when she said “An artist’s duty is to reflect the times and situations in which I find myself.” It’s not always easy, but I think the the pursuit of financial freedom and freedom of time IS part of that joy. The journey itself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m pretty laid back and chill, but sometimes socially eccentric. I’m multilayered with just the right amount of skepticism and cynicism, yet hopeful at heart. I’m fairly artistically autistic. I hyperfocus on small details which renders me the procrastinating type. I’m also someone who feels that love and acceptance will lead us all to a better life, collectively.
I started out as a producer for my older cousin at age 12 and decided to put my pen to the test and become a recording artist myself at the age of 18. I love to make music that is very personal to me and speaks true of my life and experiences. I’m heavily melodic in my approach, sonically. I take influence from multiple genres and try to mix and match different sounds and styles. One of my goals is to create a new genre of music using that method.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think it comes down to the small things, especially for small aspirers. Something as simple as a “Like” or “Share”, a simple comment on a post and things of that nature can really help artists and creatives in so many different ways. When someone is producing art and putting it out there into the wild, they’re essentially giving a part of themselves to you, letting you in on some level, and I think that for us, it just feels good to see that what you put out is at least being seen and acknowledged.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I hope I’m not on the wrong side of history with this but, screw NFTs. I barely understand them and I’ve seen them do nothing but lose people money and be at the center of multiple scams. I have an NFT for you “Nice Fuckin Try!” Lol but maybe I’ve just got it all wrong.
