Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenneth Rouche. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kenneth , appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
One of the biggest things I learned at the beginning is that your effort and expectations must be aligned! You can want and expect things all day but you effort has to match has to match the thing you want! Personally I was one of those people that expected and wanted so much out of life but my efforts and decisions weren’t aligned at all! I probably had this idea to create a restaurant for years and years but never had the guts to do what it took to step out on faith! It had been right after Covid started where I started to do a deep dive into me personally and I wanted to elevate my life to a higher standard! I started small like taking better care of my daily health and even at work I took efforts on striving to do my absolute best! What started out small turned into an addiction where I woke up everyday wanting to be better! Amongst these times I developed a deep love for mindset training and that is what essentially took me to the next level! I got to a point where I believed in myself so much I use to say ,”Hey worse case scenario you have a great resume so you can always go get another job if all fails!” It’s crazy how fear can cloud that thought and you will find yourself putting self limitations on your life! I knew it would take some work but I had built my mind, body, spirit and emotions so high that I could take on anything! That’s truly the key , the only way I was prepared to even begin to execute is because I had built me up and my mindset up first! My mindset was the most important part of starting a business. Not the product, who i knew or even money! My next step in the launch was how to get the word out to the ppl! Around the time I had started to listen to a guy named David Meltzer and he had a great outlook on the word “No” that I had never even heard of! His goal was to find 20 ppl to tell him no a day! Any natural human thought makes you think why the heck would anyone want to search for that but it is by far one of the biggest reasons we are successful! Learning this concept freed me from the fears of denial and upset! Along the way I noticed the “no’s “ began to teach me repetition so I started getting better at my pitch and body language! I also started to notice I wasn’t ever able to get 20 “no’s “ in a day! Through out the time I started getting the word out there an legit telling anyone who looked me in my eyes what i was creating and invited them to be apart! My “no’s” as I begin to notice weren’t even a no but simply a not right now! I went in rooms I wasn’t even qualified at the time and still search for “no’s”! It almost became like a high for me but what I had noticed is that I had fell in love with the process! That’s the key to success which is falling in love with the process! We went from just an idea to now we are booked all the way in 2024 and currently are fully booked for the rest of this year!
Kenneth , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Kenneth Rouche and I’m the owner of Wing N It Savannah! We are a social media restaurant which is a pioneer in the industry and we specialize in pop ups around the country! Our menu consist of premium style wings, vegan options and fried seafood! Our sides are just as creative and memorable with our different version of handcut fries, homemade dipping sauces and something we created called Fried Biscuits! We do event style set ups so every event is unique and well thought out to be an ultimate consumer experience !
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
So before we started Wing N It I had developed a deep love for financial literacy and credit repair so I actually went to school for it and took some courses! I actually graduated top of my class and begin to do credit repair and teaching ppl money on the side! My goal was to be able to self fund myself and build my personal credit all in one play! I started out with 3 credit cards I would use to buy products and after I brought the product and made the money I would pay my credit cards back with the difference to watch my credit score go up! I did this play for 2 years to the point where I didn’t have to use my personal credit anymore because I had built enough capital to fund the business on it own! Today we are about to apply for our first business credit card which will be paid with the business accounts!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We created a strategy that complimented the world we are already in! Ppl love to take pictures of their food and post them on social media! You have another group of ppl on social media that loves to looks at food! Our goal was to give ppl something to want to post! We started focusing on the plating of the food and how it made you feel when you first saw it! Also we encouraged everyone to please take a picture and post it! We did that play so much to the point where the whole city is posting our food and my customers began to be my brand ambassadors! We don’t realize how much we trust our peers and their judgement! We realized that our customers played as a vouch to our new customers! We also started making it where you had to follow us to order! The goal behind following us is that’s the only way to access us! We filtered everyone to have to come to our page to find us!
