We were lucky to catch up with Kenneth Fowler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kenneth , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I’m mostly self taught. I’m extremely passionate about learning new skills or a new craft that will enhance the creativity of my productions. I love the adventure of learning things on my own. I’ve done a lot of research online, purchased books, studied professionals but most importantly took all that information and spent countless hours, days and months on practicing and experimenting. I’ve learned that having a hands-on experience and exploring your craft will teach you a lot if you’re willing to take the time, have patience and ambition to just dive in and explore what you’re passionate about.
Knowing what I know now, to have sped up my learning process, I would have searched and met with professionals to get me through the basics a little faster and to gain knowledge about the success and failures of this craft. Also not allowing fear of failure in the public eye withhold me to test my craft. I strongly believe having someone or an audience experience your craft, you could learn a lot like what worked and what did not. Receiving honest feedback from others is valuable information that could push you to the next level.
With this particular craft, having advanced computer skills, knowledge of graphics and most importantly, video editing are the most essential skills to be successful with this craft.
When I first began, I thought it looked easy but boy was I wrong. Not only is it difficult but it’s an extremely expensive craft. There were a few obstacles to learning more at first such as not having the correct or powerful equipment, learning the software at a faster pace without online or any tutorials being available. The biggest obstacle was unfortunately having my expensive equipment stolen. I lost everything that I started with from the beginning. Files, software and all the creative projects that took weeks and months to create. I’m currently still battling that obstacle as we speak but there’s always a rainbow after the storm.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My Kenneth Fowler Jr. I’m from a small town called Belle Glade Fl. I’m the owner of Loud Live Productions, an Immersive, site-specific theatrical entertainment company based in West Palm Beach Fl. I got into theatrical productions when I was introduced to my first theatrical show Snow White during my first school field trip to the Dolly Hand Theatre at the age of 7. I was blown away by the theatrics and special effects on stage that created this magic that flowed through the building. The reactions from myself and the audience struck this magical inspiration inside of me to want to know more about this magic that flowed through us as the performance went on. After that performance I caught the creative bug, I searched for more shows and stumbled upon Stomp Out Loud, Cirque Du Soleil and Blue Man Group. I wasn’t fortunate enough to see these shows live so every day after school, I searched the internet for clips of these amazing shows. I watched for hours weekly wondering how can I do this.
I shortly started creating for marching bands, creating neighborhood parades with household items or anything we can find, step teams, drumlines..I wanted to be apart of any organization that would allow me to be creative and I’ve been addicted since. Which lead me to create my own theatrical entertainment company Loud Live Productions.
My most recent craft is 3D projection mapping combined with theatrical movement and dance. An incredible visual craft to enhance entertainment, theatre shows, parties or any creative event.
I’m most proud of the company that was created by myself and a community of amazing people I have on staff. This company have allowed me to connect with others, create special lifetime bonds and experiences with others, be a mentor and a leader for kids but most importantly, I’m most proud of the willingness to create an organization to inspire another 7 year old kid I once was , that will walk into my show to experience a magic that will change his or her life. A magic that I’ve placed inside of them to inspire them to create magic of their own just like I did.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I wish there was more unity in this business. More support and less competition with one another. As Artist and Creatives, if we focused more on unity and combined our gifts, We can build a stronger, creative foundation for our communities and families. I mean, Have you ever seen Captain Planet? They combined their powers to create bigger and stronger source that saved the day.
.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The Goal is to build a creative safe space for creatives to escape from the competitive jungle. A safe space to unite with other creatives and build a powerful community. A home for all creatives to come together under one roof to create magic for our community.
