We were lucky to catch up with Kennedy & Reagan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kennedy & Reagan , thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

We started our hair business back in 2014 when we were just sophomores in high school. We’d always been passionate about hair and wanted a way to make money since we weren’t really allowed to have traditional jobs during high school. Our first idea was actually to sell candy, but we ultimately chose hair—and it was the best decision we could’ve made.

At the beginning, our clientele was mostly classmates and family members, and we were so excited to book our very first client. We charged her just $10 for small, waist-length box braids, and it took us two full days to finish! But that experience lit a fire in us and became the foundation of a business that would last for years to come.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

We are a Christian-based braid shop and beauty brand built on faith, passion, and a genuine love for serving women. We started doing hair in 2014 as best friends in high school, turning a simple side hustle into a long-lasting business. What began with braiding classmates and family members has grown into Prestigious Beauty—a salon suite where we specialize in protective styles, natural hair care, and beauty products that support healthy hair. Our goal has always been to create a peaceful, trustworthy environment where clients feel valued, cared for, and confident in their beauty.

What sets us apart is that we don’t just braid hair—we pour into our clients spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. We prioritize excellent service, long-lasting results, and an atmosphere rooted in faith and integrity. We’re most proud of how far we’ve come and how God has allowed us to build something meaningful from the ground up. Above all, we want people to know that Prestigious Beauty is more than a service; it’s an experience where beauty, faith, and empowerment come together.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

We have faced many challenges throughout our Prestigious Beauty journey, and there were moments where we genuinely didn’t know how we were going to keep our doors open. We’ve had seasons where paying rent felt impossible, times where we questioned whether we would even make it, and early days when we were still learning and didn’t always get every style perfect. But instead of giving up, we stayed committed to growing, mastering our craft, and showing up for our clients with excellence. Every mistake became a lesson, every setback became fuel, and every challenge pushed us to tighten our skills and strengthen our business.

What truly kept us resilient was our faith in God. We held on to Him when things didn’t make sense, when resources were low, and when the pressure felt heavy. We believe you can’t do anything outside of Christ, and it was His guidance, His provision, and His grace that kept us going. By trusting God completely and working together as partners, we were able to rise through trials, keep our business alive, and build something that continues to grow. Prestigious Beauty stands today not just because of our hard work, but because we placed 100% of our faith in God and refused to quit.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

Managing our team starts with integrity. We believe in treating every employee like family, but with the professionalism and structure that allow them to thrive. That means paying them on time, honoring our commitments, and creating an environment where they feel respected, supported, and valued. Trust is the foundation of any strong team, so we make sure our staff knows they can rely on us just as much as our clients do. When people feel secure and appreciated, morale naturally stays high and teamwork becomes effortless.

We also invest deeply in training and resources so our team fully understands our standard of excellence and the spirit our company operates under. Because we’re building something bigger than ourselves, it’s important that every team member is aligned with the culture, expectations, and systems we’ve created. From day one, we teach them our code of conduct, our workflow, and the atmosphere we uphold—one rooted in faith, excellence, and genuine care. As our foundation continues to grow, we want each new hire to walk in knowing exactly how we operate and knowing they’re just as valuable to us as the clients we serve.
