We recently connected with Kennedy Lor and have shared our conversation below.
Kennedy, appreciate you joining us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
Oh, you know, it was this total “pinch-me” moment, seriously. I can still feel the shock from that first dollar rolling in from my own little venture. The whole idea of turning my passion into a business? I never thought that’d be a thing. Honestly, I wrestled with loads of self-doubt, constantly second-guessing my abilities and creativity.
But when clients not only trusted my vision but also threw their support behind my work, it was a game-changer, you know? It’s like a real privilege. To see folks vibing with what I create and then proudly wearing it, essentially becoming the living spirit of my brand. That’s some crazy stuff right there, and it’s a huge, heartfelt honor.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kennedy Lor, the driving force behind Lowken. Our journey into sustainable fashion started after I completed my bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design and Development. During my academic years, it became apparent that my values didn’t align with the practices of major players in the fashion industry, particularly in the realm of sustainability. That’s when the idea for Lowken was born.
At Lowken, we specialize in crafting effortless, classic looks with a sustainable twist, using upcycled clothing and materials that each carry a unique story. We’re not just redefining fashion, but also the very essence of luxury within the industry. What truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to sustainability. We’re on a mission to reshape the future of business fashion by breathing new life into timeless classics, reworking textile waste into one-of-a-kind creations.
I take immense pride in our ethical practices, boundless creativity, and deep respect for the environment. What I’d like potential clients, followers, and fans to understand is that when you engage with Lowken, you’re not just embracing a style; you’re joining a movement that celebrates a more conscious and sustainable future in fashion.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely, our creative journey at Lowken is firmly driven by a profound goal and mission. We’re passionately dedicated to reshaping the future of fashion by pioneering sustainability and upcycling. Our mission is twofold. First, we aim to create stunning, timeless pieces that breathe new life into the fashion world while reducing textile waste. Secondly, we strive to empower individuals to make conscious and sustainable choices in their fashion, thereby contributing to a more eco-friendly and ethical industry. Our goal is to inspire people to see the potential within our own closets or even in what’s considered waste, and turn it into a force for positive change in the world.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
You know, the most rewarding thing about being a creative is having that power to breathe life into my visions. Whether it’s a design concept or just a wild idea, the ability to turn these thoughts into real, tangible products, is amazing. I truly savor the journey of taking these concepts and making them a rock-solid part of my brand’s identity.
Seeing the love and appreciation folks have for my work, that’s like the cherry on top. It’s a nod to all the sweat, tears, and late nights I’ve poured into it. It’s this shared belief in a vision for a cooler, more creative future that keeps me going.
