Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kennedy Christopher . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kennedy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My mom taught me to never give up in anything I did or wanted to do. It don’t matter if it was sports, classes, job etc. She stands on all 10 about her kids and anything we want to do and I love that about her. She doesn’t talk us out of anything, if it’s a bad decision she lets us learn from our mistakes and I appreciate her so much for that. I came to her and said I wanted to do hair out of the blue & she didn’t ask any questions, she said ok only if you’re serious. I’m so thankful she was behind me throughout this hair journey
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Kennedy “Kenn” , Im 23 born in Forth Worth & raised in Arlington, Tx. I’m the youngest of 4. I got in the hair industry because I figured it was time to expand my options rather than being stuck on criminal justice so I went with hair. I decided to enroll into Ogle Hair Skin & Nails in Arlington in 2021. I wanted to be different from everyone else so I decided to call my brand “Kustomizedbykenn” & stuck with it. I leaned towards more of locs & color and I think that was the best decision ever so I stuck with it. What sets me apart from others is I’ll go above and beyond for my clients and I never give up on any service I do. I’m most proud of myself for never quitting. It takes alot to be a hairstylist & to stick with this profession because people will test you but it’s up to you to have patience and to not let others run over you. I want my future clients to know that my job is to make sure you feel like family not just be a client & that they’re always welcomed in my chair no matter what!
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience by posting ALL of my work, the great, the good, the bad & the ugly. POST POST POST. On every single social media platform because someone is always watching you whether you know it or not. My advice for others building their social media is to engage with others and learn from them. No one is ever to good to be criticized or to ask for help.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients would be instagram & facebook for me. It’s a been a blessing gaining more clientele over the past year and a half.
