We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kennedey Folmar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kennedey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. undefined
I shifted my entire skincare business model from in-person treatments to remote consulting and digital education! This changed everything. I created a process for acne coaching that worked without touching a single face, yet still delivered real results. From there, I expanded into esthetician education, teaching new professionals how to go solo, and confidently build their own businesses. I had a website built and now have a digital product system for skincare that allows me to maintain income, grow community, and scale – all while being home with my newborn. Innovation for me often looks like creating what I wish existed, and then making it accessible for others.

Kennedey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an esthetician and acne specialist based in Kentucky with a passion for helping people heal their skin and reclaim their confidence. I focus on results-driven skincare and a mission to take the overwhelm out of the acne journey. Over time, the business itself grew but it magically became a space where people felt seen, educated, and empowered.
I’ve worked with hundreds of clients, both in person and virtually, and my approach goes beyond surface-level fixes. I believe acne is a symptom, not the root, and I’m committed to getting to the “why” behind each breakout. Through customized skincare routines, holistic support, and simple education, I’ve helped people clear acne they’ve battled for years and feel good in their skin again.
Along the way, I’ve built relationships that will last a lifetime and had the honor of witnessing transformations that go far beyond skin. Watching someone glow again, inside and out, is the kind of impact that drives everything I do.
I now run my business remotely, offering virtual consultations, curated product recommendations, and digital resources to support clear skin from anywhere. My brand is rooted in simplicity, honesty, and healing – not just for skin, but for the person behind it.
More recently, I’ve felt called to expand creatively and step into other soul-aligned projects. While skincare remains a core part of what I do, I’m also exploring new ways to share truth, healing, and storytelling in a way that reaches people on a deeper level. It’s a season of shifting, simplifying, and allowing myself to evolve.
At the heart of everything I create is the same mission: to help people feel more confident, more aligned, and more free – starting with the skin and going even deeper <3

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn the “boss babe” hustle mentality. I had this idea that success only comes from constantly grinding, doing the most, and always being “on.” When I first started my business, I thought I had to be everywhere, do everything, and keep growing bigger just to be seen as legitimate. I was praised for being booked and busy, but behind the scenes, I was burnt out and disconnected from my actual why.
Then life humbled me, but in the best way. A difficult pregnancy, new motherhood, and a shift in priorities forced me to slow down. And in that stillness, I realized I didn’t need to “keep up” to be impactful. I didn’t need to push so hard to prove I was worthy of success.
Now, I’m in a season where I value quality over quantity. Quiet impact over constant visibility. I still love creating and serving – but it’s from a softer, more intentional place. I’ve learned over the years that peace is a form of success, too.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Honestly, connection. And authenticity. I’ve built my business by building trust through education, real results, and a no-gimmick approach. Whether it’s sharing transparent content on social media, offering valuable info in a consult, or just being human in my messaging – people feel that.
Another key strategy has been referrals from results. When you help someone clear their skin and change how they feel about themselves, they’re going to talk about it. That word-of-mouth has been more powerful than any ad ever could be. I also leaned into simplifying my messaging and speaking directly to the people I wanted to attract. Clarity brought alignment.
