We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kennadi Phillips a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kennadi, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Bliss Beauty’s mission is to bring inclusive, unique, and affordable jewelry to the every 9-5 working student like me. Our mission is important to me because it speaks to everyone at all stages of their life. From the Mens Bracelet Collection to the Baddie Charm Bracelets, Bliss Beauty provides an positive and unique experience for everyone. We have everything from dainty necklaces to custom bracelets and anklets.
Kennadi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kennadi Phillips. I am a 21 year old college student studying social work. 2022 was a hard year for me as it was the first out of school. This transition was very hard for me. It made my mental health unstable. During fall of 2022 I decided to start something productive to bring myself a positive outlet and source for my mental health. I did research on different small business ideas and I ended up with handmade jewelry. I am most proud of the support I have gained throughout the way. If it wasn’t for the baddies encouraging and buying from me I wouldn’t be as far as I am in my business. I’ve learned all different types of jewelry material and the importance of social media content creating. I take something new from my business everyday and hope my customers do as well.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media presence is very important for creating a stable community around your business. I have learned that tiktok, Instagram, and Pinterest are great places to post content for your business. My favorite content creating source that brought me the most revenue is instagram. While using hashtags and revel vent creative content I have gained over 1000+ followers over 7 months. My advice is to just start. Post that picture or that video! Get yourself out their and learn as you go. Don’t wait for an opportunity, create one!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy in gaining new clientele is going to pop up shops and giving out business cards! Pop up shops at my local city event or College/University has gained me so many opportunities and new clientele. My favorite part is meeting new people and seeing them wear my jewelry! It makes me so happy! All the hard work pays off when I see my Baddies in person. Which makes pop up shops a great strategy.
