Kenisha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Too often the media represents innovation as something magical that only high-flying tech billionaires and upstarts engage in – but the truth is almost every business owner has to regularly innovate in small and big ways in order for their businesses to survive and thrive. Can you share a story that highlights something innovative you’ve done over the course of your career?
Since becoming a Loctician, I have been blessed to encounter hundreds of crowns. Broken crowns, crooked crowns, damaged crowns, healing crowns….you name it!
Our mission is to heal a nation through hair. Every time we heal one member of a generation, we heal 6 generations before and 6 after.
An inventive asset we use in our salon approach is through chakra meditation. Each client is greeted in the shampoo room with a fresh incense, notes of lavender essential oils, and chakra meditation music by artists like Jhené Aiko.
Clients often leave reviews such as: “ The BEST experience I’ve had on my hair. So sweet and personable. The vibe was EVERYTHING! Can’t wait to return for another LUXURY experience!”

We simply enjoy pushing our brothers and sisters to their fullest potential in a luxurious way that nourishes the soul.
This fall we will be taking LAVENDERLOCS on the road touring and servicing multiple different HBCUs. Earning multiple degrees and certifications from prestigious HBCUs like North Carolina Central University and Howard University has deepened my love for black scholars fellowshipping and healing.

Peace and love! I am Kenisha Tiana, widely known as Lavender of Lavender Locs: The Luxury Loc Bar & Wellness Center. Lavender is a trailblazing celebrity loctician, who has left an indelible mark on the beauty and entertainment industries. With an impeccable eye for style, an innate sense of creativity, and a genuine passion for her craft, Lavender has become the go-to stylist for luxurious ladies and gents and high-profile personalities around the globe.
From a young age, Lavender exhibited a natural flair for hair and beauty, regularly experimenting with various trends and styles.
(I mean, that is where the name Lavender comes from… my inner child.) Armed with a solid foundation in marketing principles and techniques, Lavender began her journey in the industry, quickly rising through the ranks and establishing herself as a true beauty maven.
At The Luxury Loc Bar & Wellness Center, we specialize in Loc Retwist & Chakra Meditation. Since the age of 5, I’ve pampered myself nightly before bed. I would match my pjs to my bows and socks. Simply luxurious! As an adult, after Covid I realized I needed to live and heal for my newborn. LAVENDERLOCS was created just 6 months after Asé was born. 2 under two lol being a single mom at the time and starting a business from the ground up was challenging but rewarding.
LAVENDERLOCS was created out of love aim hopes to heal a nation through hair. Hair is so stylish and artsy and it just makes you feel good when your crown is being properly take care of.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Instagram! Every time I am greeted with a new client, I ask the same question… “How did you find me?” 7 times out of 10 the answer is Instagram. I have a bachelors degree in Mass Communication and a masters degree in Collegiate Sports Management with a concentration in marketing meaning I’ve had years of experience with socials and using it to my advantage for my business has been amazing.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
So many! Lisa Nichols and Abraham Hicks have been on repeat for two years now. When I was at my lowest as a newly single mother, Lisa Nichols’s interviews changed my perspective of my then current situation. Abraham Hicks gave me hope and reassured me that everything I desired was already in the vortex.
I listened to many high vibrational playlist over and over again until I could hum the melody at night in my dreams. I even sat with my inner child and we wrote new songs about our future self and the things we always desired and deserved.
