We recently connected with Kenish Coleman and have shared our conversation below.
Kenish, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
One of the best ways I’ve shown appreciation to my customers is by giving them their flowers, literally. Every time a customer shops with me, I love to place a rose or a flower in their bag as a token of appreciation, not just for their purchase but for seeing and supporting us.
I’ve had customers mention how much they appreciate our customer service, especially when they notice the flower in their bag. Just seeing the joy on their faces brightens my day, and it’s a small yet meaningful way to express gratitude.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Kenish Coleman, the owner and founder of Bellair. I am also a model, author, and wardrobe stylist. Bellair is an online boutique that offers women’s clothing and accessories, along with wardrobe styling and business consulting services. Our goal is to help women express their unique style with confidence while also supporting entrepreneurs in growing their businesses. At Bellair, we value creativity, personal expression, and making every customer feel seen and appreciated.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
There have been seasons where I had to shift my focus from running my business full-time to prioritizing my career. At the time, I didn’t realize that my career would actually help shape my business. Through those experiences, I gained new skills, insight, and vision that have allowed me to grow as an entrepreneur. Pivoting has taught me that every season, whether in business or career, is an opportunity to learn, build, and prepare for what’s next.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What has helped me build my reputation within my market is gaining the trust of my customers and building genuine relationships with them. It’s not just about making a sale, it’s about truly caring for them and their needs in the fashion industry. Even though it’s a journey to build that trust, I’ve learned that the impact and longevity it creates are worth it. Prioritizing connection and authenticity has allowed me to create a brand that customers trust and return to.
