We recently connected with Kenidra Bell and have shared our conversation below.
Kenidra , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
In June 2017 I birthed my first child. Shortly after advised by my mother I enrolled in nursing school… I lost myself… I was highly motivated academically, but I lacked creative motivation. Although I loved helping people, I knew that was not how I wanted to connect with others. In December 2017 I practiced on family and friends strengthening my already preeminent skills. While still juggling being a mother, student, girlfriend and other roles I knew that I wanted to live my life doing what I loved…. I just didn’t know if I should.
Then tragically in January of 2018 my mother abruptly passed away of a terminal brain bleed. I was crushed… I searched the skies for answers. While only 20 years old I knew one thing was sure and that was a beginning and an end. I didn’t want to end without truly loving and living my passion.
In March of 2018 only 7 short months away from graduating, I dropped out of college to become a full time make up artist.
Kenidra , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My artistry consist of women empowerment and also gentle pushes and pulls. While servicing my clients I try my best to be as amicable and pleasant.
I go over and beyond to create an unforgettable ambiance.
I enjoy creating an outstanding customer relationship both professional and personally.
While being serviced women are able to digress, gain confidence and also intensify their own natural beauty.
When I say natural I mean it.
You’re not going to look unlike yourself when I’m finish with you.
It may be the city learned southern hostility in me but I love to cater to my clients., they’re all V.I.P to me.
I enjoy cleaning my tools and buying new things adding them to my collection just to use them on already beautiful people.
I love to change someone’s perspective on the beauty of life even if in short time interaction.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first started doing make up I was so eager to become the best… I thought that there was only room for ONE make up artist. Boy was I wrong. I didn’t matter how many people I thought would have supported me or thought that my work was outstanding didnt. I became inferior . It mattered none of how popular you were or how much people knew you… you had to put in the work. Full consistency
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my solid social media by consistently posting and creating content. I would actively engage with potential clients, I would butter them up and after they sit in my chair ….. came the baking lol no pun intended.
