Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keniah Mosley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Keniah , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew i wanted yo pursue a creative/ artistic path was the year after covid, 2021. I had graduated highschool back in 2020 and I didn’t feel the urge to go to college like most people. Not because I wasn’t smart enough, but because something else was pulling me. At the time i was really interested in doing hair and makeup, and i practiced all the time, on myself of course.. Sometime that year a friend of mine reached out and told me about a photographer that was offering to take headshots. I didn’t know what that meant at first but i was interested in knowing more. I started thinking back to when i was 12, going to my first beauty pageant and was rejected because of my hair texture, so i was really nervous about trying it as an adult. i reached out to the photographer, his name was Darryl, @Dscansphotos on instagram. We chatted for a bit and planned a test shoot. The shoot went really well ,and several more followed, he gave me lots of tips and hope in a modeling career. Series of tests to see my dedication by having me shoot at the beach at 5am in the freezing cold water to the hot sand at 1pm in the summer. I learned a lot but at the time i didn’t know what to do with the things i learned.

Keniah , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Keniah Mosley, i am a model , esthetician, and an artist. I am a huge believer in being the art you want to see. As a model i live for merging ideas and concepts and bringing them to life, from diy hairstyles to outfits, me and my hot glue gun against the world. One thing that motivated me to create as a model was realizing the sky is the limit, that if i can dream it , i can do it. I found a love in diy projects when i was in elementary school, making science fair projects. I learned that i can actually make things in real time. As an adult i am always finding new ways to create and express myself in my crafts. From photoshoots to paintings, I’ve always felt a sense of accomplishment and peace in creating.
As an esthetician, i love the thought of bringing peace and confidence to others, allowing women/ and men to feel beautiful and comfortable by the end of our service is such a powerful feeling. It’s like i can provide a safe space for people to feel free and confident in themselves. In this industry I’ve learned that some people just want an escape, a time to breathe, self care. And i am more than happy to provide quality and luxury services from lash extensions to facials and waxes.
As an artist, i know it’s a broad term, but i do enjoy painting on canvases. It’s my way of tuning out the world and allowing myself to simply imagine, believe, dream, and create. There’s a sense of peace that comes with lifting a brush from the paint palette to the canvas creating breathtaking brush strokes with every color, that tell my own personal story.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The book that i am currently reading is called “The artist’s way “ by Julia Cameron. It is a book that was gifted to me to after being recommended by my favorite musical artist, Doechii. This book is helping me understand and unlock my full, creative potential.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being a creative , is the community. The community that you build when you have people who see and hear you and want to see you succeed. The like-minded individuals whom you connect with and can bounce ideas off of , and they give you honest feedback. for me thats who Taylor Genius is, he’s a friend, a mentor, and of course a genius. His constructive criticism is part of why i am here today. Shoutout to him ! @Tayloredgenius
