We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keneja Kennedy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keneja below.
Keneja , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
When starting a business I believe getting family and friends to support your business is the hardest thing ever. I’ve never fully understood what others were saying until I launched my business. I think it is an huge accomplishment to push aside your fears to start a business not to mention the blood, sweat, & tears you put into your business to get people to notice you. Do not get me wrong I have a few family and friends that support me wholeheartedly and rep my brand as if it’s theirs. I appreciate y’all so much and it does not go unnoticed. I’ve learned through this whole process that strangers will support your business before the people you think will. When I first started, I thought people from my city would support me like no other because of the amount of people I knew but I was so wrong. I believe everyone who own a business or started a business can vouch for that. I’ve also learned that you cannot focus on who don’t support but focus on the people who do support you. Although it can be a little discouraging for your own family and friends to not support you, keep pushing and make them believe in your dream because if you don’t believe in yourself nobody else will.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Keneja Kennedy the owner of KayWay Shop. KayWay Shop is an online children boutique that offer products such as, apparel, accessories, shoes, and more for our little divas and little kings. KayWay Shop was launched for my daughter’s Ja’Kayla and Maleah, they are the motivation behind this brand. The passion have for seeing children dress up in cute outfits and accessories is indescribable. The goal is to leave behind a successful business that they can one day own.
In my opinion, my customer service and quality of product is what set me aside from other boutique owners. My goal has always been pleasing my customer to make them come back and shop.
The proudest moment for me was putting aside my fears and doubt to start my business no matter who didn’t support me. Also, not giving up on my dreams and aspirations on the days where I would have 0 sales.
I would like my potential clients, customers, fans, & followers to know, when shopping with KayWay Shop we aim to please. We take honor in providing the best quality products and customer service. You would not be disappointed when shopping the KayWay.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think my brand reps and customers built my reputation within my market. My brand reps and customer are so awesome from leaving reviews, referring friends and family, and tagging KayWay Shop in their pictures showing off the brand products. Being able to post the content that I am provided with helped my business grow and social media accounts grow as well.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my customers and foster brand loyalty through an email app with my e-commerce which is Shopify called Klaviyo. I generate emails that I want to go out every 2 weeks. The email provides anything from sales, discount codes, store updates, new arrivals, and more. I also use a texting app through Shopify called Privy for my customers that sign up for text message updates.
