We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kenedra Byrd a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kenedra , appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I began this business with two things in mind: friends/family and love. I’ve wanted to become an entrepreneur for a while before launching but did not quite know what I wanted to do. I have always loved interior design but thought it would be too much to dive into with a full time job. Quite honestly, I was discouraged because I did not know exactly where to start.
When I came across the idea of table settings and luxury picnic decor, I knew I would excel. I would be doing something I love, which is decorating, and bringing people together, in which I adore, while creating memorable experiences for their special occasions. For me, I feel the most at peace when my surroundings are aesthetically pleasing! Therefore, I wanted to spread the feeling in such a way that friends and family would enjoy themselves and feel special at the same time. Because of that, I knew establishing Posh Park ATL would be the perfect way to accomplish bringing people together around beautiful decorum,
I began planning. I created color palettes and themes in which I call “aesthetics.” I was constantly researching to find my lane and the need for a business like this in the city. I researched how to start a profitable business. I researched table decor ideas, event styling and event planning. I wrote everything out. When I felt I was ready, I purchased inventory. I planned for a month everyday nonstop before deciding to launch and go public. I made sure I covered every corner and every aspect. I continue learning and planning each day.
At the time, I did not realize the amount of work it would take to successfully run a company like this. All I knew is that I was ready. After launching, I received my first booking 2 weeks later. The bookings continued and have not stopped. As I continued to get booked, I continued to learn and build my knowledge of being an entrepreneur. When I began, I was only able to accommodate up to 15 guests. Today, Posh Park ATL can accommodate up to 75 people and we are still growing. I am so grateful to every person who has trusted me thus far with planning and setting up for their special occasions.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media can be a great asset to utilize for any business, big or small. The opportunity to reach countless people is endless. Currently, I have about 1600 followers. Even though it is not a huge following, my audience is organic and follow me because they love and believe in my work. I gained these followers by posting, using hashtags and making reels. My advice for those just starting to build their social media presence is to remain consistent. We’ve heard it before but consistency is key. That algorithm does not play and your content will not be pushed if you are not consistent, getting engagement from users or not making reels.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Google has been the best source of new clients for me. If you google “luxury picnic atlanta,” Posh Park ATL has been the first website you could click for months. I do not know how this happened but I am grateful that it has!
