Kendrick , appreciate you joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
Growing Up in Very strict religious household as a child . A Lot of things I didn’t understand , almost to the point where I felt left out and sheltered from everything. Certain music and television shows was prohibited. The disciplinary From my Father and My Mother , shaped me into the God fearing man I am Today. Turning My failure into Faith. Both My parents were big on faith , No matter what life blows your way , and no matter how hard life gets , Keep the faith and believe that everything is gonna work out for the better. Watching my parents wake up every-day , working extreme long hours and making endless sacrifices To provide to make ends meet. It Motivated me , giving me hope while impacting me into achieving anything I put my mind to , whether it was flipping burgers at McDonalds , believing that I am more, and there is more to me . Feeling boxed and not living out my full potential. Reminds me of all the times my parents didn’t want to get up, too the point of wanting to give up but still moving by faith. As of Today Looking back over my life , the journey wasn’t easy for my parents and the journey isn’t easy for me in this present time but with enough hard work and dedication , over powered with Faith . The difficult journey is worth it . Worth Going through and getting though. That I believe is what got my parents through the years.
Kendrick , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My Name Is Kendrick Nelson. I am a professional Model , upcoming actor and photographer ,Born and raised on the east coast , Due to traveling parents , I grew up almost everywhere from south Carolina, to Florida , To Philadelphia and the list goes on but back to getting to know me . I’ve modeled for major brands From Calvin Klein , Wells Fargo , Being a Brand Ambassador For Kavod Clothing Line I got into the entertainment industry with networking and basically putting myself out there. Being open to new things and new ideas , taking on unique projects that made me feel comfortable , leaving feeling confident and eager for the next assignment to further myself in business and to further myself with other artist in the industry. What Sets me apart from others is, I’m never to busy to help pull another up in this industry, whether they are new to this or need to get themselves together to get back on track, too being amazing as a person and everything that comes with them. I am extremely proud of myself for not giving up on myself and my dreams. If I would’ve listened to other opinions , living a mediocre life would’ve been the route that I’ve taken , I do work a normal 9-5 but majority of my time is put towards my craft and my goals into dominating this industry with my creativity and uniqueness and rawness and realness. Being proud is just not good enough , I am beyond blessed to open my eyes and put in the work. It gets me emotional to know how far I’ve come and became. So much work I put into my craft and there is still much work to do and so much I have too give out to the world. My only mission is to encourage my not only myself but others who have a dream , a vision or just living , is too not become so comfortable , that you forget to soar and be authentically amazing as a person and what you do, There’s more to life then you will ever know .Keeping your head to the sky , Living your life and reaching high, Living by the golden rule. Do unto others , as you would have them , do unto you , Life is what you make it.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What really helped me is my eagerness and determination to show the world who I am and what I have to offer. My reputation and what reputation I will forever hold , is too be presented as a Professional model , always working and always on to the next big thing, the next assignment to further me into the industry even more. Always open too meeting new people and open to facing new challenges to strengthen me , emotionally , spiritually and authentically.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
So , this is a bit interesting . I Started doing photographer just for fun when I was in high school, I would take pictures of church members after church. They would make everything about taking their pictures amazing. I thank THEM to this day , It built confidence within myself to get in front of the camera and be amazing just as they were when I would photograph them…. Later on down the line in the process of becoming a professional model , i had to go back to what I love most and that’s Photography. Just doing photoshoots here and there made me even more creative with my work and working for others
