We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kendra Nicole a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kendra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I remember when I was told that I wasn’t going to do much with my life because of a series of misfortune, from losing jobs and losing my home and had to stay with friends or in a hotel during my transition.
Kendra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an actress and the owner of my company Kendra Nicole Enterprises LLC. I started acting in 2014 when I moved to Atlanta from Pittsburgh, PA to explore greater opportunities. I started doing background acting in several feature films then decided to take it a step further by auditioning for lead and supporting roles. I’ve landed roles in a series of independent films and stage plays. Alongside acting, I’ve had the opportunity to grace the runway in fashion shows which have highlighted many plus sized models and fashions in Atlanta. I’ve earned the name “Tina Turner legs” each time I graced the runway and was proud of it! Although I was pursuing my dreams in acting and modeling, it was not enough to take care of my family and had to make a decision to shift my focus and get back to working a “9-5” job.
I’ve been in the customer service field for over 20 years, although it wasn’t my first choice, but it certainly helped make ends meet. I then was able to have a better life for my children, however I knew I didn’t want to have to “punch the clock” just to survive. While working a remote job at home, I started a side hustle and partnered with a friend who happens to own Billboards in Atlanta. I would promote billboards and make $25 dollars each billboard referral. My clients were please with their billboard and how I conducted business, they kept coming back to me to buy their billboards. I had repeat clients spending hundreds of dollars and I only made $25 dollars. With anything that I do, I always put my best foot forward and work extremely hard on all my projects, and promoting billboards was no different. After all the hard work I was putting in and made my business partner a lot of money, I decided to step my game up and brought into the billboard franchise so that I could benefit more and receive a larger profit. I invested $500 dollars into the downtown Atlanta Billboard space and now rent them out on a monthly basis. I went from $25 dollar days to $1,250 dollars days and receive 100% of the profit. My clientele grew vastly so I took it to another level and started my business and that’s when I launched Kendra Nicole Enterprises LLC May 2022. I am most proud of this accomplishment because for over 20 years I’ve worked in customer service to help build someone’s company. I can now take all that I’ve learned on the job and apply it to my own business practices. If I get something wrong, I can learn from it and never worry about getting fired because I’M THE BOSS!!!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was believing I had to go to school, get good grades, go to college, get a good job, and retire at the age 65. Once I recognized the woman I’m supposed to be, I started to walk in my purpose. I made the decision that I was no longer going to settle for the mediocre life. I realized wealth is my birthright and I have the right mindset, expertise, the right product and knowledge to be at millionaire status. Although I wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be, I used my day job as a funnel to start my business and worked both simultaneously. My long term-goal is not to trade my time for money, instead I let my money work for me. With my billboard business, I created income opportunities to position others to make money selling billboards. Being multifaceted in business and investing with a high return on investment is a great achievement. My goal is to pass down generational wealth and LLCs to my children.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I knew I was resilient when the odds were stacked against me to accomplish much of anything. I am a woman who has faced many hardships in life, from losing my job and being displaced from my home several times. The last time I was displaced from my home was in 2019 when I was pregnant with my son who is now 3 years old. My friends and family were very concerned and tried to talk me into going back to my hometown in West Virginia. I could have given up on my dreams and all the goals I wanted to accomplish in Atlanta, but something inside of me told me to keep pushing. I had to wipe my tears and put on my big girl “you know what” and write down a solid plan for my life. At that point I was sick and tired of things not working out for me and my children, I knew I had to change some things and get a better grip on life. I knew that in order for me to change my life, I had to change my mind to change my income. I had to stop letting outside voices, negative talk, negative thinking and low vibrational circumstances take precedence over my life.
I started to think more positive about my life! So what if I kept failing at something and being delayed, that didn’t mean I was denied, I just had to believe in me. I had to surround myself with higher vibrations, including getting rid of some people in my life that were bringing me down emotionally. Once I let them go, I watched my life turn around and I started to soar!! It was the best feeling to have nothing but peace and stability in my life, I became whole as a person. I came a long way and wanted to share my journey with others who may have experience similar situations. I then created Positive affirmation cards which can be purchased on my website www.kendranciole.org
Every day that I wake up, I say positive affirmations which helped transform my life. Even in the midst of my many storms, all things were working together for my highest good!
