We recently connected with Kendra Fulmer and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kendra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
One very resonating thing my mom and dad instilled in me is the aspect of work ethic, consistency, and integrity. My dad’s treasured quote of “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” rings clear and true in my head till this day.
When I graduated high school when I was 18, I automatically wanted to move to LA or NYC to begin my journey in entertainment, likely following the Disney and Nickelodeon roadmap. By the grace of God, my mom’s motherly instincts kicked in, and intervened in those inconclusive plans. She said to me that she would still support my music and performance career if I went to college and got a degree in something other than music or arts. So, after those four years, I still wanted to pursue those aspirations, and because I held my end of the bargain, so did she. And, I thank her for doing that, well, I thank the big man upstairs for divinely working through her to protect me in that way. The reasons for my gratitude is because during those very primitive years, if I were to have jumped the gun and went to LA or NYC, in hindsight, I was being protected from being another young Hollywood or industry statistic. Especially with the recent revelations of what we are uncovering about the industry, what my mom and my dad did, I am forever thankful for this particular impact they had on this life path decision.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A few years ago, I was working with some potential managers/consultants, and they were introducing me to some of their contacts that they thought could help promote, or work with me on an elevated basis. One of the managers set up a meeting with Rick Nowels. When we got to talking about the direction I was taking musically, the manager was trying to get Rick’s take on what I should do, and if I should change the style and direction I was going in. Quite honestly, all three of them wanted me to departure from dance music, and to point the needle towards pop, or another genre. After listening to a few of my songs in the studio, and after a very lengthy conversation the manager was having with him about changing winds, Rick said something so vindicating, which was that I should and needed to keep going down the dance route I was going down. Essentially saying that if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it. After hearing a very well-seasoned wig in the industry say this to me, and to a person on my former team, who was attempting to mold me in to what they roughly thought the industry standardly was looking for, really illustrated and propelled me to resiliently stay the course.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Knowing that I have that joyous responsibility and impact to make not only my voice heard, but to be able to make others voices heard as well. Also, engaging and traveling to impact people, and to expand and grow my perspective, while also guarding my truth, and having an audience who respects that come along for the journey.
