Kendra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Absolutely! I wish I would have started a lot sooner than later.
I started my singing career back in 2023. At the moment I work in the healthcare industry, servicing patients in need.
If I would have started sooner, there is no telling who many great opportunities would have been opened for me at a more younger age.
But I am thankful for the opportunities that I have right now. I couldn’t be more thankful and grateful for it all.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the music industry back in 2023; I entered into a small talent show in Miami, IN and sung in front of a Hollywood music producer name Livio Harris, who’s be in the music industry for over 30 years, and he gave me a little boost I needed to purse my singing career. I felt I wasn’t good enough for the world to hear me, but I needed that boost to move forward.
I believe what sets me apart from other artists is the way my music comes to life and how my voice tells the story behind it. I jazz up most of my songs because it sets me apart from other singers/artists; and it’s something you don’t hear in the music industry anymore.
What I am most proud of is that I came out of my shell of not believing in myself and that I have the confidence to do anything I put my mind to and carry the confidence I have within myself with me. I felt that I didn’t look a certain way or act a certain way to some high end people in the music industry because of how I looked, but then I came to realize that I don’t need approval from anyone on how I should look or act. Because I am going to be me regardless and I can’t help the way God made me, which was beautiful inside and out.
I want my fans and followers to know that I am human just like they are, I deal with every day life problems (bills, kids, family, etc…) and I’m just making it the same way as everyone else is. I want my fans and followers to know that one of the main reasons of me pursuing my singing career is because I can finally be heard and seen. I have been put on the back burner for so many years, that no one heard me or seen me and knew that I had this God-given gift inside me to share with others.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by constantly posting me singing or something about myself in my life outside of singing. I would share a lot of content of my singing a few cover songs or some of my original songs that I written and would post it that day or week. I would also interact with my fans by commenting and showing my appreciation to my fans because they don’t have be supportive of what I do and can be elsewhere. I also would recommend to do a few Live videos of yourself doing anything. It could be you cooking, hanging out with friends or family, a second hobby of yours or just wanting to get to know your new loyal fans in the making; that helps a lot when you interact with your followers and getting to know them and speak with them.
I also reached out to a lot of people that were starting out in the same music industry as me and how they gain fans and followers. They have given me some great advice on how I can gain more followers and fans on ANY social media platform.

Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
I remember one time that I almost missed an amazing moment for my singing career, was when I was offered to sing with an amazing band based in Indiana and when one of the band founders reached out to me and offered me to sing with them in their band, I was terrified. Because this band have performed in front of a live audience and I haven’t and I was so scared of how people would judge me on my singing voice and how I looked. The band founders were and still have been so supportive when they heard me sing and were amazed at how I sounded,
When showtime came for us to perform my first time audience experience where a lot of people would hear me sing for the first time, I didn’t know what to expect and how people would accept me. But after I performed my first leading song with the band, the audience were happy! I saw smiles and some people were even dancing which made me relax and more comfortable.
After the show, the band received praises on how we all sounded individually from the musicians to the singers. Hearing those compliments and encouragements from people that never heard me or seen me perform before, made me feel amazing afterwards. And that’s the feeling I’ve had and heard after every performances, and I knew this was something I had to do for me and for others who also don’t have a voice that feel like they haven’t been heard or seen.
