We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kendalyn Emerald a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kendalyn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents have played a large role in my talent career. They have been supportive since day one, & they have always done everything in their power to help me succeed. They have driven me to jobs to extend my resume, they have paid for classes, events, & workshops to further my knowledge & experience, they have bought anything i needed or wanted for my career, & they have unconditionally supported me mentally, physically, & emotionally. They have been here every step of the way & I am beyond grateful for them & the help they have provided me. They have paid for me to go to California, Orlando, New York City, & many more places. Everyone deserves parents like mine. Not only are they great parents, they’re amazing people. I would not be where I am without them.

Kendalyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the modeling & acting industry first through John Casablancas Model & Talent Management. They sent me on a Talent Tour to California where I signed with Manikin, then Stars Talent Studio. I have gone through many classes & a lot of training for modeling and acting, however I was not getting many jobs. Then I signed with Avanti Management. I attended their showcase, & with the help of AMAZING coaches, Jennifer & John, I signed with my first exclusive agency, Talent One. I could not have done this without their help, they are two of the most helpful & generous people I know. I am so glad to have met them through this industry!

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
These days, society is very toxic towards artists & influencers. With bullying, rumors, & false accusations, some people’s reputations & careers have been completely destroyed. I believe the world would be a much better place if people took a more positive outlook on others, & on their own lives as well. If more people had more positive things to say about others, social media & society would not be as big of an issue as it is in the modern day.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Truly, I wish I found Avanti sooner. Jennifer & John have been two of the most helpful people I have met in this industry, & I truly could not have made it this far without them. For that I cannot thank them enough. The Avanti showcase was an absolutely unforgettable experience & it got me set up with my first exclusive agency, Talent One, as I have mentioned before. This is why I wish I had found Avanti sooner!
