We were lucky to catch up with Kendall Doub recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kendall, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My love for creating started at a very young age before even knowing what an artist was. I have loved drawing and doodling since I was a small child learning to write and read. This love only grew throughout my school years. In middle school I would draw things requested for classmates and they would pay me with lunch money… I remember thinking, Wow! I could do this as a career! So early school was definitely the first time I knew I wanted to pursue art and design professionally.
Kendall, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Kendall Doub. I am an 40 year old artist and graphic designer based in Winston-Salem, NC. I work in multiple fields of art including Studio Art, Mural Art, Graphic Design and Illustration. I’ve had the great pleasure to collaborate with and create for many amazing people, businesses and corporations with my art and design. Beyond the art its self, creating and building personal and professional relationships is one of my favorite parts of being a professional creative. When working with a client, whether it be for a design project, mural or painting I always approach it with a collaborative focus. I want the client to feel like they are part of the work and process. In addition to my professional work I have been heavily involved in local charity/non-profit art projects. Working with art non-profits bringing public mural art to communities and visiting schools working with students from Elementary through College level. I’m most proud of a lot of that work over the years. I strongly believe that art can be a strong tool in helping build and grow both business and communities.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me is the opportunity to interact with people in a positive way through my art. Whether it be a painting for their home or. mural for their business, the way art can bring happiness and joy to people’s lives is an amazingly rewarding thing.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal or mission is to create as much as I can in my life, meet as many amazing people as I can and just be able to enjoy a good life and provide for my family with what Im passionate about….CREATING!
