Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kendall Conway. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kendall thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When naming my business I wanted it to be something personal and unique. Naming a business feels like a big deal because it is the first thing people will see when they begin to work with you. The name Conway Collective came to me after brainstorming my vision for the brand. I knew I wanted it to be personal. So, Conway made sense. However, I also wanted to showcase the reason I love events and weddings so much- they bring people together. Weddings bring together all the people you love into one space for the evening. Events bring together people with the same goals, mindsets, or lifestyles. Collective means a group of people acting together. My whole goal for the brand was to bring people together to celebrate and that’s exactly what I wanted the name to represent within Conway Collective.
Kendall, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
This business originated out of two things I love – design and working with people. It wasn’t till after I became more immersed in the wedding industry that I learned how much wedding and event planning combines these two. After getting married in August 2022, I saw the joys of bringing together all your favorite people for one celebration.
Weddings bring together a lot of my favorite things as I was originally an interior design major which turned to social work. Design + serving others have come together in a really sweet way within the wedding industry for me.
I provide planning, design, and coordination services for weddings and events. This role entails coming alongside clients to connect them with the best vendors and designing their day in a way that feels most like them. I always want to ensure that my clients have their wants and needs heard in the planning process and that the event feels authentic to their vision. Weddings in particular have the tendency to be a bit overwhelming with the decisions to be made. I always make it my goal to help my clients enjoy the process and take a bit of weight off their shoulders. One of the most joyful seasons shouldn’t be the most stressful season and being the friend that can help you enjoy this season more is the ultimate goal.
I am proud of my ability to create this business. Something that just started off as an idea has transformed into a business where I can help clients create a day that marks the beginning of so much. My brand is based on the idea of bringing together all your favorite people. My goal in every design and plan is for them to feel loved and celebrated as they are surrounded by the people that they love.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
One of my biggest goals for this brand is for it to feel authentic to who I am. I want my clients to feel heard and supported throughout the process of working together. However, I also don’t want to simply make a business transaction. One of my favorite parts of this business is getting to connect with people and support them. I make it a goal of mine to be authentic to who I am in each interaction with a client or vendor. This allows me to create connections with both vendors and clients that fosters the brand loyalty.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
As I have learned, the wedding industry is all about connections. Who you know is always helpful but who you know also comes down to who you connect with on wedding days. As the main point of contact on event days, I make a goal to connect with each vendor and family member I interact with in a way that fosters a positive relationship. I want to be fully available and ready to answer questions that point people in the right direction. This is one of my favorite parts of coordination because it allows me to work with multiple different vendors and meet so many new people. This often becomes the best source for new clients because of referrals. I am so appreciative of vendors who have graciously mentioned my name in the business. This industry is the result of connections made and supporting those vendors whom you have formed a positive connection with is so important.
