We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kendale King. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kendale below.
Alright, Kendale thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Starting my consulting firm, KCK CPA, during the pandemic was a leap of faith. The world was facing uncertainty, and many businesses were struggling to adapt. I had a stable job, but I knew there was a bigger impact I could make. I decided to bet on myself, quit my job, and build something that aligned with my vision of serving entertainers and navigating the world of digital assets.
Similarly, launching CPAcon amidst a sea of accounting conferences was another bold move. I saw a gap in the industry for an event that celebrated accountants the way NBA All-Star Weekend does for athletes. It was risky, but it was a chance to change the narrative of our profession and offer a new, engaging way to approach financial literacy and professional growth.
Both ventures have been worth the risk. KCK CPA has allowed me to provide tailored consulting to creatives and digital asset entrepreneurs, while CPAcon is redefining what accounting conferences can be. Taking these risks wasn’t easy, but betting on my passion and vision proved to be the right choice. Also having a supportive wife who both motivated me and kept me focused was imperative. We had started a firm together first before both KCK CPA and CPAcon, which helped embolden me and my drive.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Kendale King, and I’m a CPA with over 12 years of experience specializing in the entertainment industry and digital assets. I started my journey in traditional accounting, but I quickly realized that my passion lay in helping creatives and digital entrepreneurs navigate their unique financial challenges. That’s what led me to establish my consulting firm, KCK CPA, right in the midst of the pandemic. It was a bold step, but one that aligned perfectly with my mission: to bring financial literacy and empowerment to industries that often get overlooked by traditional accounting services.
At KCK CPA, we provide tailored financial consulting, profit optimization, and accounting services specifically designed for entertainers, content creators, and digital asset entrepreneurs. We tackle everything from financial planning to navigating the complexities of digital asset management, which can be a daunting space with evolving regulations. What sets us apart is our deep understanding of both the entertainment and digital asset worlds—we’re not just accountants; we’re partners in our clients’ financial success.
I’m most proud of the way we’ve been able to demystify financial management for creatives and digital entrepreneurs. Too often, these individuals don’t have the resources or knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions. Our services go beyond traditional accounting; we educate our clients, helping them turn their passion into profitable, sustainable businesses.
In addition to my consulting work, I founded CPAcon as a celebration of the accounting profession, akin to an All-Star weekend for accountants. CPAcon is not just another conference—it’s a place for forward-thinking professionals to compete, learn about industry developments, and explore new pathways in accounting. It’s also part of my broader commitment to changing the perception of accountants and showing how diverse, dynamic, and innovative our industry can be.
I want potential clients and followers to know that KCK CPA is built on a foundation of passion, expertise, and a genuine commitment to financial literacy. Whether it’s through personalized consulting or pioneering events like CPAcon, my goal is to empower clients with the financial knowledge they need to thrive in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has undeniably been referrals and relationship building. The work I do is very personal and often requires a deep level of trust, so word-of-mouth has been invaluable. I make it a point to get out there, network, and build genuine connections within the industry. By spreading positivity and simply being a good person, I’ve been able to establish a strong reputation that naturally attracts new clients.
Of course, I’m not perfect—sometimes I fall short—but I always lead with kindness, care, and relatability. I believe that when you approach business with authenticity and a genuine desire to help, people notice. That sincerity has been the cornerstone of my success, and it’s what turns one good relationship into many more through referrals.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by being consistent and relatable. I share my real experiences—things I’ve actually done and am currently working on—so my audience knows they’re getting authentic, practical insights. It’s not just about posting content; it’s about telling a story that people can connect with.
A big part of my success also comes from recognizing where my strengths lie and leaning on experts in areas I’m not as skilled in. I’m fortunate to have a great team that supports me, and I actively seek advice from professionals in other fields. It’s important to know when to ask for help and leverage the knowledge of others to strengthen your presence.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my advice is to put yourself out there and focus on providing value. Don’t be afraid to share your journey, successes, and even the setbacks. Being real and relatable is what draws people in. Consistency is key, but it’s equally important to stay true to who you are. Your audience will connect with your authenticity, and that’s what keeps them coming back.
