We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ken Taylor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ken below.
Ken, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How has Covid changed your business model?
Our business model changed due to the pandemic. The pandemic highlighted the importance of digital capabilities for business resilience and growth. It has also exposed vulnerabilities in supply chains, leading to shortages and delays in the delivery of goods and services. We all had to adjust or go out of business. The pandemic has reshaped our behavior and preferences, leading to business model and strategy changes. For instance, the rise of remote work and social distancing has increased demand for online services, prompting businesses to pivot towards digital offerings such as our iPain Living Magazine and making our yearly summit event a digital experience. For the magazine, we offer it in both digital and print. Our print version lost more than 90% of our customers when our distribution company went out of business. At the same time, our digital version has grown more than 50% with subscribers. Additionally, businesses and nonprofits have had to prioritize health and safety measures, especially when working with vulnerable populations such as the chronically ill or those living with rare diseases. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, like many business we have undergone significant changes, with remote work, digital transformation, supply chain challenges, automation, and shifts in customer behavior. The pandemic affected many of our programs and services and it was mostly natural to switch to a new model we found that more people were able to participate when we went online and those we serve appreciated the transformation to our programs and services.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Because of my wife I have been exposed to our health system and became interested in rare diseases and chronic pain diseases in particular. I love to work on projects and services that help those living with these life challenges and their families. I do this as a CPR, First aid, AED, BLS and safety instructor as well as chronic pain educator, patient advocate. Through the program My Genetic Meds I have been able to help people get testing for parkinson’s, dementia, alzheimer’s, PGX medication and microbiome testing . I have been an advisor for the Johnson & Johnson Generation Care Program since 2019 and a Dish Network Software Beta Advisor since 2015.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When it came time to build a presence on social media I crated a plan w key word s branding colors working to keep everything within that brand. Creating the parameters in not only looks but also how responses are handled such as keeping away from political commentary. Staying on message is important and posting consistently. I use software to schedule a posts ahead of time to maintain consistency in posting.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Anytime i could attend an in person event, i would do so. An add is a great way to get in front of the masses of people and hope you connect. However, if you can shake a hand or find common ground while talking to people face to face, it will be more affective. Kind of like that saying, nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care. It can be in any order but once someone can feel sincerity and compassion in what your saying, he or she will give you creditability and you can start to build trust. Trust is one of the greatest building blocks for new clients.
