Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Miller.
Hi Ken, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ken Miller and in 2007 I was released from prison for the third time after 3 years of incarceration. I left prison with no marketable skills but with a hunger to succeed (legally! lol) and a willingness to return to being a productive member of society I am a very sucessful business owner and community leader. My company Denali FSP Grant Consultants has since 2014 worked with over 130 nonprofit and tribal entities in the area of fundraising and grants.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles I have had are in the areas of finance, recruitment of staff, client relations and the passing of my wife in 2018.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Denali FSP Fundraising & Grant Consultants was incorporated in April 2014. We specialized in writing grants for tribes and the Alaska Native community. We also work with nonprofits in the areas of board development, fundraising and strategic plans. We are a diverse firm with the principals of the company being a Black man and a Alaska Native female. We are known for our many trainings that we provide and also our competency and success in writing and winning large Foundation and Federal grants.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned is to embrace mentorship and life long learning.
