We were lucky to catch up with Kemi Ms. Seriki recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kemi, appreciate you joining us today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
What motivates me to start Pansapansa conversations within African immigrants community in NYC that led to creating a podcast.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ms. Kemi Seriki.
I am African parent with a podcast and a blog discussing inter generational relationships between African immigrant parents and their children.
In 2017, I started a conversation about the first and second generation of African immigrant children growing up in American society. The purpose of the dialogue is creating an open platform for our children of different backgrounds to come together and express their challenges as they try to balance between the two worlds of having an American identity and maintaining their African heritage. My website is pansapansa.org and the podcast is Pansa Pansa live podcast.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Improve on parent and child communication.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Reading books written by children of immigrants from Africa, Asia and Southern America and learning about their experiences.
