We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kemal Tumysh. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kemal below.
Alright, Kemal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
My journey has been one of pursuing dreams and embracing diverse experiences across the globe. Having recently graduated from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, I’ve fulfilled my lifelong ambition of studying in the United States. This achievement is the latest chapter in my international educational journey, which began with studying Industrial Engineering and Management at Jacobs University Bremen in Germany.
Aviation has been my passion since childhood, guiding many of my professional choices. I’ve had the privilege of interning at various aviation and logistics companies, including a particularly memorable experience at Fokker Services B.V. in Amsterdam. These opportunities have not only deepened my industry knowledge but also broadened my global perspective.
After completing my studies in Germany, I returned to my home country to work in the Oil & Gas sector, gaining valuable industry experience. However, my interests extend beyond my professional pursuits. Music has always been a significant part of my life, and I’ve realized another dream by composing and recording my own music. It’s a source of pride that my work is now available on major platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
Regarding the legacy I hope to build, I aspire to be remembered as someone who successfully bridged different worlds – the technical and the creative, the East and the West. I want my life to serve as an example of the value of diverse experiences and the pursuit of one’s passions, regardless of geographical or disciplinary boundaries.
I hope people will remember me as a versatile individual who didn’t confine himself to a single path but instead embraced a multifaceted approach to life and career. I want my journey to inspire future generations to explore diverse opportunities and follow their dreams, showing them that it’s possible to pursue seemingly disparate interests like engineering and music.
In my professional life, I aim to make meaningful contributions to the aviation or energy sectors, possibly finding innovative ways to merge my technical knowledge with sustainable practices. I hope to be remembered as someone who pushed boundaries and brought fresh perspectives to these industries.
Musically, I dream that my compositions will continue to resonate with listeners long after I’m gone. I hope to leave behind a body of work that captures the essence of my experiences and emotions, serving as a timeless expression of my artistic vision.
Ultimately, I want my legacy to be that of a global citizen who successfully navigated multiple industries and cultures while staying true to his passions. I hope my life story will inspire others to dream big, embrace diverse experiences, and find harmony between their professional ambitions and personal interests. I want to be remembered as someone who lived life to the fullest, always curious, always learning, and always striving to make a positive impact in whatever field I found myself in.

Kemal, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
What sets a professional apart from others is the ability to navigate and thrive in diverse environments, both professionally and culturally. I’m particularly proud of my ability to understand and anticipate the needs of management teams and clients coming from diversive backgrounds. I believe this skill, combined with my technical knowledge and international experience, makes me a valuable asset in any organization. I’m always present and attentive, trying to see beyond the immediate task to understand the broader objectives of the project or company.
One of the pivotal moments in my career was my internship at Fokker Services B.V. in Amsterdam. This experience not only deepened my understanding of the aviation industry but also taught me the importance of versatility and cultural adaptability. While there, I saw an opportunity to contribute beyond my assigned role. I offered to assist the sales team in working with Russian-speaking prospective clients, helping to generate new business. This experience taught me the value of being flexible and proactive in identifying ways to add value to an organization.
For potential clients, employers, or collaborators, I want them to know that I bring a unique blend of technical knowledge, cultural adaptability, and creative thinking to the table. I’m not just an engineer or a musician – I’m a problem solver who can approach challenges from multiple angles.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One significant lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that strict compliance and following process to the letter always leads to the best outcomes. The backstory to this realization comes from my experiences across different cultures and industries. Of course, most of the rules in many industries are there for a reason, especially in the aviation one. However, if the situation potentially allows implementing “outside of the box” process and have more benefits than risks, then why not?
During my early education and initial work experiences, I was taught to adhere rigidly to established processes and protocols. This approach seemed logical, especially in technical fields like engineering and in highly regulated industries like aviation. I believed that following every rule meticulously was the key to success and safety.
The past experience taught me that sometimes, being too compliant can stifle innovation and limit potential. I realized that there’s a delicate balance between following necessary rules and being open-minded enough to see unconventional solutions or opportunities.
In my music career, this lesson became even more apparent. Creativity often thrives when we break away from established norms and explore new territories. I learned that while technical skills and following certain musical rules are important, the most impactful art often comes from thinking outside the box and being willing to take risks.
This shift in mindset has enabled me to bridge different fields and cultures more effectively, bringing a unique blend of structure and creativity to my work in both the aviation industry and music production.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most significant pivots in my career came after I had been working in the Oil & Gas sector for four years following my university studies in Germany. I had a stable position in Corporate Secretary Service, which was a respectable role in a lucrative industry. However, as time passed, I began to feel that my career trajectory wasn’t fully aligned with my long-term aspirations and passions.
I had always been fascinated by aviation since childhood, and this interest had never waned. Additionally, I harbored a dream of studying in the United States to broaden my international experience and perspective. After much reflection, I realized that continuing on my current path, while comfortable, wasn’t going to fulfill these deeper ambitions.
This realization led me to make a bold decision – to leave my job and pursue an MBA in the United States. I set my sights on Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, attracted by their strong programs in International Business and Aviation Management. This choice would allow me to combine my business acumen with my passion for aviation, potentially opening up new career opportunities.
This pivot was not an easy decision. It meant leaving a secure position, moving to a new country, and essentially starting over in many ways. It required careful planning, from researching universities to managing finances and navigating visa processes. It also meant stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing uncertainty.
