We recently connected with Kelvin Weathers and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelvin, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I started in my speaking journey about twelve years ago, I would definitely change and would have gotten started earlier if I knew now what i didn’t know back then
The ability to impact, and inspire individual from all walks of life is very valuable and rewarding
Kelvin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a relatively young man, the oldest of five, a native Texan, Houstonian.
I m most proud working with young people mentoring with HISD’s Ascending to men Program which served young boys and now a part time mentor with the Chauncey Glover Project which also serves young gents from middle to high school
I empower individuals who are dealing with low self image, self esteem, possibly depression and also talk about leadership, and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
I’m one of authors of the Amazon best selling anthology Still I Thrive, that spoke of adapting, and evolving during the pandemic.
I’M also an outreach minister and professional speaker who speaks to a diverse audiences, companies, organizations and schools
People should know that I have overcome adversity my own personal live, being fired from jobs, losing loved ones at an early age and yet still thriving in the midst of it all
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ve held positions in sales where was a top performer and yet I was fired from the role.
I’ve learned to deal with and embrace rejection.
I believe God has kept me going through the ups and downs in ministry and life.
I could not have bounced back on my own.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Learning to say no and mean it.
I have a peaceful phlegmatic type personality, I’m an agreeable person yet that can be taken advantage of.
The reason i say this is when you seem to be doing well and many think you’re doing the well they tend to have a hand out to see how far they can go or ask things of you
