Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelvin Villalobos. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kelvin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
I am in the service industry. The main challenge would be getting paid what you are worth and having loyal customers. Some people don’t appreciate what you do for them and forget and how much you have done for them, but I have to keep reminding myself that business is business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got on this industry trying to make a change on people’s lives. I try to communicate to my players and parents that this “entertainment” business is not easy! I try to shape players based on what I have experienced as a player. I think my personality and my morals differentiate me from my competition. I know business owners that would do whatever it takes to keep their business going even if it’s not morally right! I try to do the opposite. I am most proud of how far I have come despite all my personal challenges I have had to overcome.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
100 percent! I have only been doing this for over a year now. I have had to start over again twice now. Learning from your mistakes is one thing, but having never been through some situations that I have been in and still stay staining says a lot about my personal character. A lot of people want to see me fail for what I bring to the table. Maybe I am younger and more morally successful. Some people don’t like seeing others better than them, no matter how much you have done for them!

Have you ever had to pivot?
This past summer I had some situations and issues with some of my clients. Personally, knowing myself and knowing where I come from I had to become the bigger person and stray from who I was. I decided to not let that bother me and see the brighter side which is learning new things. Every single “negative” event I try to turn it into a positive, learning experience. At the end of the day that’s what it is, just an experience. We can learn from our mistakes, but most importantly don’t stay down. Grow, learn what you can take away from that experience and show them that nobody is going to keep you down!
