We recently connected with Kelsey Kelchner and have shared our conversation below.
Kelsey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
At my previous in office position, I would coordinated and market many events for our residents and others in the surrounding community. Our community was also so generous in donation drives and bringing us gifts to show their appreciation so this was a way I could thank them back. Whether we hosted a food truck, a pool party or even delivered homemade cookies to doors…it was the little things they loved the most.
Kelsey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I began my career with social media and content creating in 2019 when I began posting couponing and money saving tips on TikTok. I generated a lot of traffic and actually began making profit on brand deals and promoting new products and apps. When CoVID hit and my office job became slower, I had to create new marketing ideas since I was not able to go out like I used to and meet local business owners and host events. That is where my content creation came in to play. I reshaped our presence for our company on social media. Once CoVID calmed down and our office reopened, we had people from the community coming in just to meet me and collaborate with me on content for community pages and events. I created a name for myself in my small community and believe over time I can help other companies do the same.
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
During CoVID when I needed to dig hard for new marketing ideas for my company I was working for, I stepped out of my comfort zone. With permission from my supervisor, I purchased a dinosaur costume, and would record virtual tours of all the apartments, amenities and even participating in various TikTok trends. The videos not only got the attention of businesses in the community, but our company. In many “social media” zoom calls I would receive recognition for my ideas and creativity.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had began my TikTok and Instagram journey sooner. When everyone was on lockdown at home is when some of the biggest influencers did the best
