We recently connected with Kelsey DeLange and have shared our conversation below.
Kelsey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Throughout my career I’ve found success to be a lot of different things in different stages, but at this point I know that it’s not about chasing every opportunity or trying to be everything for everyone. I believe that success comes in the form of clarity, in knowing who you are, what you stand for and who you want to serve.
Before specializing in branding, packaging, and website design for entrepreneurs, I had a decade long career as an illustrator. That chapter really shaped my eye for design and the way that I approach branding, but in the earlier days I was saying yes to everything, taking on projects that weren’t always aligned in the name of being “booked” because that’s what I thought it meant to be successful.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I do believe that when you’re starting out in any creative field it’s important to experiment, you need to experience a lot of different types of projects and clients before you can truly discover your niche. But it was when I started to get really intentional about the kinds of clients I wanted to work with, the kinds of brands I wanted to build, and the values I wanted my business to embody that things really began to shift.
Recently I rebranded my own business which was a great reminder that success isn’t about getting everything perfect from the start. It’s about evolving, refining, and having the courage to align yourself to who you’re becoming. Since launching my rebrand, not only does my outward identity finally reflect the quality and care I bring to client work, but it’s also attracted perfectly aligned opportunities and clients. That experience has really solidified something that I now deeply believe: success follows clarity and consistency. If you don’t know who you are and what you stand for, no one else will know if you’re the right fit for them.
I don’t think success an be defined as a single moment or milestone. I think it’s the result of getting clear on your vision and showing up for it every day. Trusting that the right opportunities will meet you once you’re aligned with the path that you actually want to walk.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m the founder of a brand and design studio where I help entrepreneurs and business owners launch and elevate their brands through strategy-led design. My work includes building full brand identities, packaging, and websites, but at the heart of it, what I really do is help my clients clarify who they are, what they stand for, and how they want to be seen. From there, I translate that into design that connects with their audience and drives real business growth.
Before starting my studio, I spent over a decade as a professional illustrator, which gave me a deep foundation in art, storytelling, and creating work with emotional impact. That background really gives me a unique edge in my industry, I don’t just design for aesthetics, but to tell a brand’s story in a way that feels both beautiful and strategic. Every choice, from typography to packaging, is rooted in a bigger vision for how the brand will show up and succeed in the market.
What I’m most proud of is seeing the transformation that happens in my clients when their brand finally reflects the quality of their work and the scale of their ambition. A brand is so much deeper than what you see visually, there’s so much strategy and psychology involved and when it’s all done right it gives the client confidence, connection, and real momentum in their business. I want people to know that branding isn’t just some surface-level decoration, it’s one of the most powerful tools you have to build trust, spark desire, and create opportunities in your business you might not have even imagined before.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
What drives me and completely lights me up is helping founders bring their vision to life in a way that feels authentic, aligned, and unforgettable. I know how much courage it takes to start or scale a business, and I believe a brand is the greatest tool a founder has in their toolbox to communicate their value and position their business for success.
My goal is to give my clients clarity, confidence, and a brand identity they’re genuinely proud of and excited to share. Something that effortlessly connects with their target audience, sparks momentum, and helps them to achieve their wildest dreams.
At the core, my mission is to help entrepreneurs visually communicate the passion they’ve poured into their work. A strong brand opens doors, attracts the right customers, helps a product stand out in a crowded market, and positions a business as premium. Watching clients step into their next chapter with that kind of confidence and momentum is what fuels my creative journey every single day.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that branding is just about making something look nice. From the outside, it can be easy to see a logo or color palette as “decoration,” but in reality, branding is one of the most powerful investments a business owner can make.
A strong brand is so much deeper than visuals, its strategy and psychology in action. Your brand shapes how your business is perceived, how you stand out in the market, and how customers connect with you before you ever say a word. The right identity can signal quality, communicate values at a glance, create shelf appeal that stops people in their tracks, and build instant trust.
What often goes unseen is the strategy behind every design decision. Typography, packaging layouts, and color choices aren’t arbitrary, they’re rooted in consumer psychology and designed to influence perception. I spend just as much time diving into a client’s mission, values, and competitive landscape as I do designing, because clarity and purpose are what make a brand truly work.
In short, branding isn’t fluff, it’s business strategy, expressed visually. And when it’s done well, it becomes one of the smartest tools a founder can use to fuel growth and confidence.
