We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelsey Aida. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelsey below.
Kelsey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
My whole life I was training to be a professional dancer. Sadly, as so many do, I became injured right before it was time to go pro which spun me into a three-year-long depression. But that’s just the beginning of my story as as an author and coach.
After healing from the depression I wanted to share everything that was working for me on my healing journey and that’s the exact moment I decided I was going to write personal development books and “become the next Deepak Chopra”! Of course, nobody knew who I was… so I decided to build an audience by starting a blog.
Eventually, that blog became the platform for my first book #ActuallyICan: The Art of Affirming Yourself To Greatness and then I went on to write several more bestsellers and expand my platform to podcasting, coaching, retreats, and the like.
So really, becoming an author was a natural evolution for me post-healing. I had to share the wisdom I had gained with the world!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an Energetic Alignment Coach and Bestselling Author who helps people to manifest their dream lives and love themselves deeply through the process. My work is to help people line up energetically with their goals and dreams so that they can create them with more ease and flow. I’m also a teacher of radical self-love which is usually required during the manifestation process as it can take a lot of healing work to get to where you want to go in life.
Growing up I never knew I was going to be a teacher empowering thousands of people and coaching people through life, but as destiny would have it, here we are!
I now have a podcast called High Vibin’ It where myself and my co-host talk about self-love, manifestation, mindset, healing, and the like. I’ve written 5 personal development books to help people live their best lives. I work with people 1-on-1 to help them clear their blockages and uplevel their lives. And I even sometimes host international retreats to help women learn to love themselves.
It’s all very rewarding work and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I think the most important thing to succeeding in the wellness/spiritual space is authenticity and results. Nobody wants to work with someone who is fake or doesn’t provide any real value. In a sea full of life coaches you have to utilize your specific gifts and specialties to stand out.
I also credit a lot of my success to my reliability and having a gift for channeling divine truths that resonate deeply with my audience and clientele. I love being the messenger that gives someone the right message at the right time to help them break through.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One big lesson I had to deprogram from my brain was that college is everything and that without a degree from a university, you are a nobody with nothing to offer the world. My guidance counselors in high school really tried to pressure me into going to college but it just wasn’t for me. So before becoming an author I actually skipped traditional college to become a hair artist by attending a prestigious trade school.
I couldn’t think of anything I wanted to study in school bad enough that I could later relate to a career. And I was always very creative, artistic and girly, so my parents encouraged me to go to beauty school. This turned out to be one of the best things I ever did because I make over 6 figures working two days a week at a salon and that allows me the time, space, and support to do the other healing, teaching, and writing work that I do.
