We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kellygrey Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kellygrey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Growing up, my parents have always been there for me, which has really helped me to branch out. They’ve always been supportive, no matter what. My mom has been a huge fashion influence, pushing me while I push her too. My dad is the brains, always there with guidance and advice when I need it. I’m incredibly thankful for both of them and wouldn’t be where I am today without their support and the way they raised me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi!!! I’m Kellygrey, a micro-influencer focusing on fashion. My goal for my page is to stay relevant and real with a stylish twist. I believe people should connect with my content on a personal level, so I present myself authentically, without filters. I love my community and the connections I make with everyone. For me, this is more of a hobby than a job, so I have fun exploring different ways to create content and interact with my lovely viewers. I’m most proud of not giving up. There have been countless times when I wanted to stop, but pushing through was a huge milestone for me. I’m excited to continue this journey with the amazing people supporting me.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The story of how I built my audience and the advice I’d give starts with just beginning. I can’t stress enough how important it is to just start, no matter where you are physically or in life. You can’t wait around to “be ready” because I don’t think anyone ever is. You just have to go for it and be consistent. I started in Charleston, SC, and built from there. My style (if you know Charleston) is way out of the city’s comfort zone. But I took the first step to put myself out there and I didn’t give up. I can tell you now that you can do it, and I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of doing content creation is how people respond to it. I love being able to connect through a screen and let people know it’s beautiful to be unique, whether that be through style or just in general. Seeing the positive reactions and knowing that my content resonates with others is incredibly fulfilling. It’s amazing to think that something I create can inspire someone to embrace their individuality and feel confident in who they are. The messages and comments from people who feel seen and understood because of my work are what keep me motivated. It’s not just about sharing my own journey, but also about encouraging others to celebrate their uniqueness and find joy in being themselves.
